The summer holiday is here (or almost, depending on where you live). When you have young children, the length of the summer holiday can be very daunting, even scary (all that free time, coupled with unlimited energy). It can sometimes feel as if the day has been going on for a week. Not a nice feeling at all; but it doesn’t have to be like that.
With a little preparation, both you and your family can enjoy the vacation. The key is organizing; so get a calendar and start filling in the blank spots with fun activities. Try to make it a family activity and let all the members (who can talk :-)) join in on the fun.
Here are some suggestions to get you started:
Make a bucket list like The best ideas for kids did, e.g.
- Go fishing
- Go rock hunting
- Go on a nature walk
- Blow bubbles
- Stargaze
- Make Homemade Slime
- Make Homemade Playdough
- Paint Pet Rocks
- Build a sandcastle
- Fly a kite
- Have a picnic
- Make Homemade Ice Cream
- Eat Watermelon
- Roast Marshmallows
Craft your own outdoor games. See here for suggestions SheKnows Living
- Get wet!
- Get a Slip 'N Slide for the back yard
- Organize a super soaker party
What have you planned for the vacation? Did you plan this alone or with your family? What are some of your best practices?
