  • Thank you. :-)
  • @jenn_929- I know! I guess as long as I have my detailed birth plan then I should have all my needs and wishes met. My husband has already agreed to go with whatever decision I choose to go with. He doesn't want to see me in pain but he's proud of me for even wanting to try it natural.
  • If you wanna do natural then do it! He can not force you for pain meds. I'm totally different. I would not get my teeth pulled without meds and I def wouldn't give birth without it. Haha. But everyone is different. Do what feel right

Personally in know way am I doing natural child birth I'm scared of pain and I love meds that control it but as a woman u have the right to go with no meds and not have ur doctor tell u its stupid ...how rude...get a new doctor and deliver who u see git...women gave birth for hundreds of years before epidurals ....wow
  • Wowwww! Yeah bc they get paid big bucks to give the epidural.
  • I'm pretty good with pain but this is supposed to be the worst pain ever. I think I can do it but I'm pretty nervous. :S

@preggointx- where in texas are you? I'm in texas too.
  • I love my doctor, but he also thinks natural childbirth is stupid. He is all for modern medicine. I elected not to have any pain medicine with my first and I'm not going to have any with this one. But my doctor always tells me to keep an open mind.
  • I have had 5 babies. The first 3 were induced and I got an epidural. With the 4th my 2nd husband wanted me to go natural, but after they started pitocin, I couldn't handle it and got an epidural. I then decided that if I didn't get pitocin I could go without pain meds. I found a midwife that really listened and repected my choice and did it with my last one. It was amazing, I didn't have any meds or stitches and didn't even feel like I had given birth afterwards. Healing was so easy! I'm 31 weeks pregnant now, and have the same midwife and birth plan!
  • what kind of doc says something like that? thats so not cool
  • I would find a new doctor
  • We as woman have been having babies from the down of time! How do u think we got to where we are today. We the America people have the most medical births in the world. What happen to going back to our cave man days and having babies the good old fashion way. As I say that and that's what I want but ill be the big baby wanting the good drugs even tho I know there bad for u. Watch the movie the business of being born great onsite on the medical world from different view points....
  • I am not one to go natural but I say get a new doctor. This is your body and your baby you should be able to make ur own decision without being judged by your doctor!
  • The back problems you will get from carrying the kids are completely different from the probs that stem from epidural. I had my epidural 7 years ago, and i still can't feel my left hip and half the toes on my left foot. I'm glad you have people to support your decision and birth plan. Are they willing to refuse you drugs even when you're in pain, though? It will be hard to say no with the nurses popping in every 20 minutes saying" "its just one shot and it will make it better"
  • My daughter was born in the car on the way to the hospital, completely natural, other than some tylenol early on, and there isn't anything like it. You can do it all by yourself, no drugs.
  • I wasn't there to hear his tone of voice but I'm going to be positive and say at least he gave you his honest opinion. You have to respect that. He isn't the one who makes money of the epidural, that would be the anesthesiologist. And generally (again being positive) men don't like to see women suffer. He didn't outright say that he won't deliver you, or support your decision, without pain meds did he?
  • @jojom i was in my 7th month when i switched doctors so it can be done, u may just have to do some digging. Also knowing that u have the support behind your decisions w your husband is great. I wanted to have all my deliveries as natural as possible but did have pain meds by the time they all delivered most of the meds were not working bc they can't give them to close to when u start pushing bc it can add stress to baby.
    Good luck
  • 4senough-yes they will both refuse the drugs no matter what. We have a safe word that if I say it, they know! Lol.

@maranda3-no he didn't say that. I believe he would support my decision and deliver naturally without giving me too much h*ll. Haha. And he did say that he thot the pain was just unnecessary.

@3girls_0boys- I'm glad my husband and sister are behind me too. I think as long as I have my birth plan and my husband there to help refuse the pain meds it'll all work out. I'm also on medicaid and I called them yesterday and she told me it would be very difficult to find a dr to take me on so late since I am on medicaid. :-q
  • in my opinion I dont think it is stupid to have a natural child birth . however I dont disagree with meds . This is my first pregnancy and tons of people are telling me that they were kind of forced to have C-Sections because they were in labor to long . Im going to try and have a natural birth but I dont know if ill need meds or not
  • this is my first baby n im going all natural. They have different methods of pain managment like a warm bath, a birthing ball, and walking. Plus they could move you into different positions to help. Its not dumb at all, try looking into the proceedure at the hospital
  • Well crud...i just had my hospital your and I completely forgot to ask if they allowed a warm bath during labor or even if they had birthing tubs.
