Subchronic Hemorrhage

edited March 2011 in First Trimester
I have been spotting for over a week so I went to my doctor and had an ultrasound. Everything was normal, I even got to see the heartbeat =) but she said the spotting is from a tear in the placenta which is called a Subchronic Hemorrhage. She said its not a big deal as long as I am on pelvic rest for 4 weeks. Anyone ever had this happen? It's kind of worrying me.

  • Yep, I didn't have spotting but supposedly I had subchorionic bleeding at 9 weeks. They put me on pelvic rest for 2 weeks and when they did another ultrasound at 11 weeks it was gone. They're actually pretty common and usually heal by themselves after a few weeks. So just take it easy as they suggested with the pelvic rest.
  • @PebblesMommy do you know how big yours was? They said mine was 1 cm. I'm glad to hear yours healed up on its own.
  • Yep, I saw the report myself. It was .9 by 1.0 by 1.1 cm. My OB said that was super small and that the place where I got the US done tends to overdiagnose the condition. Sounds like yours is itty bitty too but maybe just a little more severe since you seem to be having spotting from it. But all they did was put you on pelvic rest so they don't seem that concerned. It's not like they put you on bed rest. Make sure you insist on another US in 4 weeks to see if it has gotten any better.
  • @PebblesMommy okay good thank you so much. And yes I did insist on another ultrasound =) they scheduled one for April 13th.
