@homebirthadvocate the only birthing center is an hour and a half away I'm almost broke I can't afford to drive that far and I might have the baby before I even get there. And homebirth is illegal in Delaware or trust me is be right on it lol. The only doc I trusted was my ob at the planned parenthood I went to for 5 years bc I didn't have insurance before and she was a midwife for 25 years even seeing her at a free clinic she gave me more of her time and advice than any ob I've ever had. I begged her to be my midwife but she doesn't practice anymore. And she has friends but they're all up in Wilmington which is where the birthing center that I can't afford to drive to is.
@homebirthadvocate that. I just wish I could find and get ahold of the midwives in my area so far ive only found one and she only does Amish and Mennonites births and if I want her help then I basically have to convert to a mennonite to get it. Noooo thanks.
I opted to have the first trimester genetic testing, but it was entirely optional. We've had 2 miscarriages in the last year and my sister had fluid on her brain. It was only a few blood tests and an ultrasound. I have one more blood test at 16 weeks to check for neural tube defects which can cause hydrocephalis (fluid on the brain). My sister was mentally & physically handicapped and I needed to know if there was an elevated risk for serious defects for my own personal knowledge.
