Weight gain

edited March 2011 in Health
I'm almost 6 months along and gaining too much weight. I tend to eat healthy, maybe just more than absolutely necessary. I can't fully work out, I can't necessarily diet. what should I do?

  • How much have you gained. I went to the dr ofc today and I have gained 5 lbs since last month. I have no idea if this I too much
  • I went to dr yesterday, gained 11 pounds in a month.
  • I started this pregnancy at about 155. I'm only 6 months along and at 180. And I'm so hungry!!
  • @mama2bee I don't think there's anything you can do about the weight already gained. Just try and eat healthier and more protein that will keep you fuller longer. Also walk 3-4 times a week for 20-30mins.
  • I was 119 when I got preg with my son I was 180 when he was born. My daughter I gained 30. This one so far so good only 4lbs in 17 weeks but I've still got a long way to go. The problem with my son was to much salt. This time when I'm hungry and need to hold myself over I drink a v8 I get good vegies and it curbs the hunger
  • I think the younger you are the more weight you gain and the older you are, you gain less. My first 2 I gained so much! 80 lbs. The weight was hard to get off. I felt so old and achey because of it
The last 2 ( in my later 30' s) I gained 5 pounds less than I was supposed to and felt much better through the whole thing. has anybody had a similar experience?
  • This is my first and I'm 31 weeks. I've gained about 45 pounds already. Id started out at 100 pounds and my dr seems to think its salts and starch. I try to eat healthy but salads and such just don't fill me up at all. I tend to eat more pasta than necessary. :"> and I walk everyday. I'm actually not too worried about it cuz I was under weight before I got preg. I just know I'll have to exercise a little more once my little man is born. :)
  • It's really hard for me as well. I was overweight my whole life and i worked hard and dieted and lost over 100lbs..and then i got preggo..well..i think my body was like "OMG foooood" and i wasnt able to do the hardcore hour+ of cardio i was used to, so weight is piling on! :(
  • @heatherlynn I was in a similiar situation I was overweight and lost about 80lbs and then found out I was prego. I weighed about 152 when I started and am almost 32wks I weigh 179 so I have gained about 27lbs (I try to walk but I can't lie I don't do it all the time and I eat so much fast food and still drink sodas) Oh well I am just going to work out as soon as I have my baby and heal.
  • I gained 70lbs with my first...went way overboard..so far I've stayed the same weight with this baby..hope not to gain much this time too hard to lose.
  • I haven't put on much weight at all this pregnancy even though i'm overweight it's less than they recommend. I eat all day and not exactly healthy lol. In total I put on 2 kg between week 12 and 36! So it really depends a lot of it could be on baby and breasts etc not you :-) oh and this is my second baby, 36 weeks and 1 day now.
  • This is my first I'm 33wks 1day and I've gained 21lbs so far I feel huge );
  • Im twenty two weeks and have gained around thirty pounds my doctor said its all water baby and boobs so she isn't worried
  • I'm 30wks n have gained 28lbs my midwife told me to cut back on carbs :"( I'm not though lol
  • @mommy2audrey I agree this is my first and I want pasta mmmmm lol I will do the cutting back when I no longer have an excuse to get fat lol
  • I feel like I'm gaining too much also. I'm 16 weeks and I go visit my gym every 3 weeks and I gain 3 lbs each visit exactly. So that's 1 lb every week!! I don't even want to imagine how much weight I'm going to gain in total! I feel so depressed! And I'm a 2nd grade teacher and the kids all say " mam you look fatter already", and kids never lie! Ughhh...I wish I got out of work with energy to exercise, but I don't! I'm so drained with the duties of teaching. Anyone out there in the same boat? I feel alone!
  • I'm 14w on Tuesday and gained 2lbs but all belly and boobs.
