How do you not qualify for Medicaid if you have no income? I have no idea...call clinics and the health department in your area see what they charge for maternity care. Some might not charge much if anything.
  • I have 2 girls from a previous marriage and their dad has them insured because its court ordered. Medicaid said I can't count them as my children if they have insurance through someone else even though they live with me. I called the health dept and they werent very helpful. This is just so frustrating
  • i will try pregnancy care center now. thank you
  • What shots are you taking? And I'm surprised medicaid won't help since your pregnant

  • My.kids have always qualified for medicaid even with other ins. It just becomes secondary ins.
  • I have to take lovenox. It's the generic. And I have to see a high risk ob Medicaid didn't seem to want to help me at all. I don't even mind paying for insurance but they won't take me

  • @brooke31. That's what I take and if you call the company and explain your story they can help you out. Or talk to the pharmacy that you go through and they can also find ways to help out. That stuff is very expensive. Have you tried talking to your doctor and seeing what they could do to?
  • Hmmm thats weird. Any woman who is pregnant is eligible for Medicaid. Where do you live?

  • I live in new Mexico. The Medicaid office literally told me this morning there is absolutely nothing they can do. I'm married and my husband makes to much they said for 3 people. They won't let me count my oldest daughters even though they live with me
  • @momo. I have. to see a new Dr because he one I first saw isn't a high risk Dr. I go to the community hospitals high risk facility next week but still have no coverage. he said he would work with me on payments.
  • I'm sorry Hun. Wish I could help
  • It's ok. Thank you. I just want to be able to enjoy my pregnancy. Hopefully I can soon
  • I'm able to count my kids and there on There dads insurance. If They live in ur house They count. At least in Wisconsin

If you married or have any insurance or have a job.... or if you married and your husband have a job your chance of begin eligable are very slim to none my aunt works for Medicaid and she approve or deny p.e.p.w (presumptive eligibility for a pregnant women) there lookin for women that dnt have a job or make a lower income or dnt have any insurance or if u can show must of your money being paid out into bill and you can't pay for insurance and if you do Appy make sure you apply for pepw because that different from regular Medicaid p.e.p.w cover you and you baby there is no co- pay everything paid for as far as doctor vist and medication you or your baby need and you baby is also covered for its first year... befor you re apply...it a lot but if u dnt have the money its worth it good luck ladys if you have any question let me know ill ask my aunt...

  • Thank you all for your input. I called all the places everyone mentioned and still have no luck. The Medicaid office literally said there is nothing I can do. I can't even drop my kids from there dads insurance and claim them on Medicaid. Their dad only gets them one day a week so its pretty unfortunate. I have a meeting with the local community hospital to see if they can help. Crossing my fingers its my last hope!!! Thank you all so much again.
  • U have to qualify for assistance your pregnant with no income ...maybe your being too honest ..sometimes u have to lie when you to to the county building
  • Well I can qualify on my own if I weren't married. But they count my husbands income. If I would have known they wouldn't count 2 of my 3 daughters I would have kept certain information out of my application. They said I would qualify and gave me presumptive Medicaid but I got a denial letter in the mail a few days later. So I called them and they said they found the insurance my girls had so I got denied. I didn't even try to put the family on it all I needed was pregnancy related Medicaid since all the kids already have insurance. And still got denied.
  • Where do u live? I know in Iowa there is a place I went with my second & got a free ultrasound. They r across thestreet from a planned parenthood abortion clinic & they help alot of women out u can check out there website & call them they might have some suggestions for u or connect u with someone that can help. It is called woman's choice center.
