Hypoglycemic (non diabetic)

edited April 2011 in Health
Anyone else have this. How do you deal with it. I got it very bad one day at work, my face went numb and fainted and I fell backwards hitting my head on the counter edge. And when I tried to get up my legs collapsed and I fell back hitting my head 2 more times, I ended up getting taken by ambulance to the e.r. I was in a neckbrace for 7 hrs a back board for 5 hours, Nd in the e.r. For 9 hrs. They gave me morphin, ct scan and xrayd and never once checked on the baby.

  • No I havent.
  • I am type 1 diabetic and i get a lot of glucose unawareness. I am senitive to insulin, however i need it to stay alive. I was just taken to the er because i was unconscious, but with my raging hormones i have to adjust my insulin. I test my sugar 14 times a day and am on the insulin pump. Don't eat sugar or you will bottom out, eat foods that will process evenly, like juiice, milk, fruit or toast, also peanut butter is great too. Good luck!
  • What would be considered high blood sugar?
  • I'm hypoglycemic, and with this pregnancy it seems I have to constantly eat to stay feeling "well". String cheese and mixed nuts are my snacks of choice... I've found the protein helps keep things stable. But I feel your pain... I've about passed out several times from low blood sugar and then in the first trimester it's rough eating anything when feeling so pukey. Hang in there; hope things continue well for you!
