Birth plans?

When did your doctors start talking to you about your birth plan? I go to the doctor tomrrow and im going to ask mine when we should start discussing it. But it got me wondering what everyone else is going to do for there birth plans.. Im not sure if i want the epi or not. I have alot of friends who've had it and have back pain now. & i watched them shake after delivery and i just doesnt look like something i want to go threw. I kinda want to feel everything but i want pain relife if i need it. Whats everyone else's plans?

  • I really want to try all natural this time. From my son I had the epidural and I have horrible back pains now :( I really wanted a water birth, but they don't offer it anywhere near where I live. I have a high pain tolerance so let's hope it all goes by smooth :) how far along are you??
  • we haven't talked about my birth plan yet and i am 31 wks. but it really depends on my docs plan. i have a medical condition so they may opt for me to go straight to my first csection (3rd pregnancy). but if i can go vaginally i will get an epidural when necessary. i have a 1 hr drive to my hospital so making it there is my number one priority!
i had an epidural with my first and 3 times it didnt take.
i had one with my second and i slept from the time it kicked in until crowning 5 hrs later :D
  • @mommy_yaya im 20+2 ive been looking into water births as well because ive herd alot of good things about them and i get very relaxed in water and its easier for me to deal with pain. But im not sure if my hospital does that type of birthing so i might just bring it up with my doctor tomrrow anyways :)

@survivormommie3 Im so scared of getting an epi i dont think i could sit threw 3 times of it and have it not take. Id come unglued on them lol. And i hope if i do decide to get one that it goes as well as your 2nd one :)

My doctor might think im crazy for talking about it so early but i want to be very clear on what i want and dont want. Anyone ever asked a anaesthesiologist how long they've been practicing, because i most deff will be asking all kinds of crazy questions. Im not going to have a student poking a needle in my back. No way!

  • I an doing a at home water birth for my fist baby and I am very exited but a little nervous that its going to be extremely painfully.
  • I think you should talk to them as soon as you are ready. Most likely you will have to bring it up. Google birth plans & find ones thats right for you & give it to your doc to put in your file.
