  • I had the same fear. And I honestly didn't get a lot of pain until 14-15hrs after my water broke. But leading up to that my back had been hurting for two days and I had light period like cramps and when my water broke I was having contractions but I didn't feel a thing. I ended up having to be induced.

@YAYA ;; lately i have been having period cramps , sharp pains that will have me jump and scream just a little, than two nights ago i woke up with alot of back pains.. i thought it was about that time.. im not due until the 20th though. just 8 more days :)
  • @ta2edblondie ;; thanks, i think thats exactly what im going through ;/
  • well i wasnt sure they were contractions when they first started but eventually they HURT pretty bad and of course I still didn't want go n Cus my water didn't break (Cus on tv they always send the girl home,i didn't want that to be me!)but i started bleeding so i went in and good thing i did Cus i was at 9cm when i got there!
  • @nameless ;; thats exactly why i dont want to go in right away im always seeing something on the tv where they send the girl home.. but than again i wouldnt want to give birth omw over to the hospital lol
  • :/ well hopefully it won't be like that for you!
  • When I was in labor I just knew. Even though I was only 35+3 I knew it couldn't be anything else, the pain was too intense lol. My water broke, but I didn't know it at the time because nothing really came out. But I felt something pop. After that my contractions came on strong, 5 mins apart right away, it was crazy lol. When I got to the hospital about an hour after my water broke I was already 9cm and 90% effaced. My whole labor lasted 3 hrs and 45 mins.
  • @nameless ;; i hope not.

@starrxoxo9 ;; wow you were one of the lucky ones.. my mother was in labor for 23 hours and ended up having a c-section when she had me.

Both times were quick for me..esp the second time. Idk if my labor was just really fast or I just didn't notice it earlier lol it was almost 9pm when I felt the first contraction and they got stronger and closer quickly. I gave birth at 11:40 pm he came out by my second/third push
  • @myheartzx3 ;; thats greatt, i hope that when i am in labor am as fortunate as you were.
  • Me too! Im scared im going to have my baby on the floor or on the way to the hospital! I've seen what happens! My bff was born on the kitchen floor n she's a crazy B now! Lol! :p

  • Lol! Heck it happened to my bff mom! Her dad was drunk and wanted ti shower! During his shower she gave birth on the kitchen floor! They towns ambulance had her name on the side for years because of the story! Lol! If she's ok ur baby will b ok if it happens to!! :p

I worried about the same exact thing since I've never really had any contractions. My water had broke, that's how I knew I was in labor. I never really had pain, except for pressure, they have to pit on on pitocin.
  • I have the same fear am I gunna be q sissy for the pain or not know at all and my water breaking too what if I'm at work id be embarassed
  • I never felt my early contractions, yet I dilated to 2cm and 70% effaced by 38 weeks. I guess my pain tolerance was too high to pay any attention and the fact that I was baking like a crazy woman (Christmas time). Even still, my baby boy was quite comfortable where he was and I evicted him at 41+1 and those contractions were no joke! Pitocin can definitely get the job done if the body wants to cooperate. I had one false labor trip, thankfully only one because the hospital was an hour away. This time around I am much more in tune with my body (probably because I had 2 miscarriages within the last year) and feel confident that I will know that my body is ready. Sometimes we just need to slow down and tune in to what our bodies are telling us and don't be afraid of going in even if you are sent home. If you are full term and contracting, they will monitor you and have you move around to see if you progress (even if your water hasn't broken yet). If you are dilated past a 4 or 5, they likely won't send you home so easily.
  • @valentinasmommy ;; i been having period cramping but nothing serious. i guess my body is just getting ready for my little prince arrival.

@darknesofnight4u ;; im afraid of how the pains are going to feel.. if it does happen while your at work (god for bit) theres nothing to be embarrassed about , youll probably be try over joyed to even worry about what the others think. O:)

@misskristin ;; i try to pay attention to. my body as much as possible. the minute i get any sort of pain i just stop everything just in case its that time.. i sometimes feel like if im over working myself thinking of it to much. sorry to hear about your two miscarriages :/ & thanks for the extra 411 :)
  • Yep, it may be! :) good luck!
  • I didn't have any stomach contractions at all. My back hurt like nothing I've ever felt. Felt Like my spine was contracting. I lived with my mom so I had her rub my back and I'm not one to complain but she couldn't rub it hard enogh. I kept saying mom push harder please! I was about to beg her and she said she's pushing/rubbing as hard as she could. And she said she needed to give her arms a rest. And that's when I noticed that the pain was really bad every 4mins. I went pee before we left and blood gushed out at the time I thought I was gonna fill the toliet with blood. I doubt it was that much but it was a lot. So I told my mom we got my bag and went to the hospital I was 5cm and 100% effaced. Got my epidural slept thru the night work up watched tv then had my baby at 1:08 pm :)
I was scared I wouldn't know and I'm nervous that I won't know with this baby. But I knew with my first so I'm sure ill know with this one. And like I said I didn't have any stomach pain. All back labor. With is normal but most feel stomach tighting or someting and I didnt
  • @babynumber02 ;; the other night i thought i was going to die from all the back pain i had :/ i was so close to going to the hospital but i didn't want it to be a false alarm and get sent back home. this morning im having period cramps again but hes been a little more active than usual.
  • I knew because I woke up from a dead sleep with a little stronger then period cramps. I tried walking them because I had already been sent home. I thought it was the stress from the weekend my father passed on 1/13 and my daughter was born 1/16. So I kept walking. They didn't feel very strong just enough to be uncomfortable. I also tried keeping in mind I live an hour away from the hospital I needed to go to. I got tired of the cramps so I woke up my ex and made him drive me to hospital cause I wanted drugs. When we got there my water broke and 11 minutes later she was here maybe three or four pushes. I have no idea when labor started but from getting to hospital getting all hooked up and holding her was 6 hours I think but as soon as my water broke naturally she was here! My dr tells me for this one as soon as I feel a regular pain coming with minutes to head to hospital cause I am still an hour away and they don't want my water to break before or on the way cause I will have a freeway baby LOL ;)
  • Being able to time the pain is the key. If you can't feel an obvious difference like "Omg this hurts!!!" To "ok .. Im ok" is what I've been told.

I've had severe back pain with this pregnancy to the point of when my husband tries to rub me to relieve the pain i scream because just touching me is to much pressure. With labor you could hit me with a baseball bat and it wouldnt be hard enough.
  • Yeah I was scared for my first time...i was only 16 and tiny lol I gave birth 7 hours after my first contraction after 17 minutes of pushing. I had easy labors..i think I was made to have babies :p I hope u have an easy time too mama
  • @nameless u know what I don't really remember. I prob didn't notice because I had no Idea I was in labor til I felt the contractions. I'm gonna try pay attention this time Around lol
