"rules" for trick or treating..?

A friend of mine has three little kids, and I have two. Her husband is working tonight and she really wants to take her kids, but not by herself. She asked us to go with her, but we have plans with someone else ( that don't have a specific start time). Would it be a rude to our neighbors if we went a little early? I'm thinking they would understand since they're little kids, but wanted some opinions.. what is the normal start time for trick or treating, so we don't go super early?

  • I think 5-6 is an appropriate start time for small children, especially on a school night.
  • I'm expecting kids to be here around 530-600. Rule of thumb up where I live is if their outside lights are on, they're ready to give out candy!
  • Where do you live?
  • ours was always 6-8
  • Ours only goes 330-6
  • Outs here on main street runs from 3:30 to 6...
  • Our is always when street lights come on too.. But people will understand don't worry.
  • My city actually has a rule set for 6-8 pm and only twelve and under. Smh. What happened to our country!
  • I don't think anyone would have a problem with it but you might not get much if people are not at home or not yet ready.
  • Only twelve and under??? @captivated thats silly I have a few friends that have 12 _14 year olds that are definately young for their age and are trick or treating. I say anything to keep them young its sickening to hear what 13 year olds are doing nowadays. My friends daughter is 11 & still believes in santa :)
  • Around here the little ones start around 5:30 and usually the later it gets the older the kids lol. I don't think it's rude!
