  • I think 37 weeks is, that's when I started walking my butt off with my son.
  • Did it help? When did you have him?
  • Are you talking about naturally? Walking, squats, using a birthing ball, sex. Those will all help your body prepare for labor, but unfortunately nothing will actually induce until your body & baby are ready. :)
  • I think that it did help, he was my first baby and I had him at 39 weeks. The night before I went into labor I had reeeeeeaaaally spicy food too, not purposely trying to make him come but he came the next day. Also when I walked, I walked on a moderate to high incline.
  • I'm getting anxious I cant wait ti see her
  • I had a friend tell me castor oil but it sounds gross
  • How many weeks are u?

Castor oil is terribly gross but it worked with my second. Went into labor less than 8 hours after drinking it. But I had been contracting 10 min apart for weeks already and was dilated to a 4
  • I am 32w4d but she is measuring 33w5d
  • Sex! I had contraction start at 11pm Saturday night. Had sex Sunday evening, had my baby boy at 1:04 am Monday.
  • It was also full moon not sure if that had anything to for with it
  • Oh forgot to mention I had my membranes stripped at 37 weeks too, I'm sure that had to do with it too lol
  • My doctor told me this last appointment that there's really nothing to jump start labor, only to soften my cervix.
However, she said that walking and stretching exercises on a birthing ball or yoga ball will help.

After 37 weeks it is fine. It is normal to measure ahead, but doesnt mean you are further along in gestation at all. Nothing will induce labor. Labor occurs when mom and baby simultaneously release a hormone. Nothing but medical induction can start labor :( home remedies such as castor oil help to move labor along once it has started or stalled. Walking etc will help the baby to engage and cause a smoother labor. Orgasm can help with contractions, but semen won't do much for your cervix unless it has been a consistent thing throughout pregnancy. Epo or borage oil started around 35 weeks orally and then orally and vaginally after 36 weeks can help your cervix become favorable and dilate more quickly once labor begins :) membrane strips can help start labor if your cervix is favorable and body is already ready for labor. Other than that, you just have to wait. Your body will go into labor ONLY when it is time and baby is ready to come.

A lot of women say this and that inducedtheir labor, but it is unfortunately not the case. It is just a situation of coincidence.

A birthing/exercise ball helped me, but baby was already ready to come. I was 3-4 cm and almost completely effaced. I bounced and did figure eights for about an hour with my laptop in front of me (on pregly!) and began to get shooting, terrible pains in my vagina about an hour later. Felt like terrible pressure. I woke up a few hours in early labor and went back to sleep for a few hours before the contractions made it impossible to sleep after that. I got up and went back to my ball for a few minutes and they and the pressure intensified. My contractions were about three minutes apart by then. I showered, shaved, straightened my hair and packed my bag. Called the hubs and drove myself to the hospital. Got the epi and gave birth about an hour later! I swear by the ball, but once again, will only work if it is ready. Just relax and try ti enjoy these last few weeks. You can try all the old wives tales, but nothing will accomplish the task of starting your own labor!
  • I highly suggest getting EPO and starting it around 35 weeks like I stated above. I did this with borage oil (research showed that it is more effective than EPO). By 36 weeks I was 30% effaced and was 70% at 37. At 38, I was 100%. Gave birth at 38wk5 days. Had three membrane sweeps as well. The third is what did the trick as I gave birth.a little over 24 hours after having it done. Dilation doesn't mean a darn thing in refards to giving birth soon, but effacement is very important and indicative of impending labor! You definitely want to focus on home remedies for softening your cervix.red raspberry leaf tea is something you canbbegin taking now and it will help to tone your uterus for the big day, which helps your contractions to be effective and stronger. This can help prevent you from being stuck in painful prodromal labor which is technically labor, but does not help to make the cervical changes necessary to get a jump start and admitted to l&d!
  • I will have to try that... thank you!!

  • I played Just Dance when I was 37 weeks pregnant and I swear the next day I went into labor, lol. I wasn't trying to induce and wasn't even dialated yet then BOOM baby :)
