  • I would like to do home birth, but my obgyn was so amazing about my first natural birth I won't go to anyone else. We drive 1 hour and 30 min just to see him. And are planning to stay in a hotel near by the week of delivery. They are few and far between but there are good obgyns in support of all natural.

If you live near tucson desert bloom obgyn is by far the best!
  • @HomeBirthAdvocate that fact worries me, even if some think giving birth outside a hospital is dangerous i still feel there is less risk for a child at home, for some...infections and "mistakes" happen too much for me to be comfortable with the idea.

  • I got a ultrasound at 36 weeks because at 33weeks my fundal height was measuring 39 weeks so they had to do ulrasound to measure weight
  • @mom60511 do pain mess through an IV works the same as an epidural? I want to try natural but I was told by me not getting much exercise through my pregnancy that it would hurt me. Not sure if its true, I've been on bedrest my whole pregnancy.
  • You probably won't have another ultrasound unless you are high risk

  • No pain meds through iv do not lessen the pain but they do pretty much knock u out between contractions but u will still feel the blunt of all contractions by the way I am a ob gyn nurse
  • @homebirthadvocate I agree on the keeping Drs and nurses in line. Luckily, my hospital is pretty cool. They even asked if I want to go natural or if I'd like drugs. My ob is a pretty cool hippie chick too :)
  • I just want to say, I'm a paramedic, I've delivered 3 babies on my truck, & I've seen them done in hospitals. I've never had any problems on the truck, and one of my patients already had 4 kids & she said it was the best experience she ever had because it was natural birth. She regretted being drugged for the first 4. All I can say is that do your research & do what's right for you, not what's right for everyone around you. I would give anything to be able to have my baby at home.
  • @mommyof3boys oh...I was kind of hoping I would know in advance lol its funny i want to know the weight but not the sex :p
  • I don't want to be knocked out through my birth. Thanks :-) I couldn't imagine laying on the same sheets as I gave birth on for hours.
  • The exercise helps you keep up you endurance. Its like digging a ditch, not painful just work work work. As I deglamorize birth... its like taking a big dump. You push and push... its hard work. Then before u know it ur done...

Again don't make the mistake of letting ur nurse tell u ur taking too long and that they have to give you pitosin. This is the natural birth killer. Times you labor intensity by 20. Ur contrations will come faster and harder by this drug making you birth painful!! This is why women go for the epidural, they can handel the pain of labor, they just can't handel the pain of pitosin
  • It is only a estimate bein as the baby is so squished in there it can always be plus or minus a lb
  • @lovingmybabyboy no it's not the same thing as pain meds thru an IV go into your arm and an epidural goes thru an iv in your back. Just because your not exercising doesn't mean you can't have a natural birth. Everybody's body is different. So you may be just fine I was just trying to say what works for one person may not work for another.
  • @aortiz22 I have to disagree about pitocin my second son was by induction and it still wasn't bad at all

@Lovingmybabyboy you won't be knocked out for the birth it only knocks u out between contractions and they wien u off the drugs before they have u push but u r fully aware of every contraction
  • It was kinda nice to give my nurse a smug smile when she told me she was going to get another nurse to help me into a stretcher to take me to my coupling room, and I told her I can get up myself. It threw her off that I could walk after my birth. So many women get the epi and have to get a tube up thier yohoo just to pee until the feeling comes back into their body. I gladly walked (to a many shocked nursing staff) to my new room.
  • @mom60511 thank you :-). I know what you meant. You know by this being my first child ppl close to me make it seems like exercise will make my labor easier, what I mean when I say that is they tell me if you don't exercise the baby will tear you coming out, your labor will be hard. Just basically trying to scare me.
  • @aortiz22 that's another reason why Im not sure about an epidural, because I don't want a cathedar. I hate those things

  • Is it crazy to everyone else that it seems like all strangers and distant relitives want is to share all of their negative and scary birth stories with you. My first son I had people come up to me while I was shopping to share their negative experience and criticize my birthing choice. My 2nd pregnancy I finely got the guts to tell the to shut the hell up. My husband and mom were the only people who supported my natural birth. We have to learn about birth and then make a choice of what is healthy for first our baby and then ourselves. Those bastads won't be the ones pushing so they have no say :)

  • I dropped one f bomb only once when I thought I could move durring a contraction while in transition. Other then that one moment my birth was mostly quiet on my part. But like I said I had about 20 hospital staff wanting to see a natural birth so there was quite a bit of cheering and enouragment on there part.
  • Kegals is all the exercise you can do to stop from taring. and massage of corse. But exercise is healthy it gives you more stamina and keeps blood flowing. But if your on bedrest im guessing its because they don't want baby coming early. If thats the case, you should be ready to go when time comes? You will probably dialate faster. And yes pitosen does cause contractions to be faster longer and more intence. Which is almost always why women need epidurals. Some people can handle them. but it can get crazy painfull, and they are longer without the breaks in between. And it puts baby in distress. Best advice is get educated. Why do people spend hrs to weeks researching new cars, apartments, even pets.. But just accept what ever they are told when it comes to delivering their child? And we are the ONLY country that delivers 80%or more of our babys in a hospital. And we have the HIGHEST infant death rate in the world by far. All other countries including Europe and Asia have 80% of births by mid wives. Dr's over the years have done CRAZY things to women in the name of convenience. And there are TONS of birth defects because of drugs that were thought safe, that we now know are super dangerous!! Sry this is obviously something im passionate about lol. I don't blame people at all for wanting drugs. Its the norm in our society. But I truly feel we are missing out.
I had both mine natural. The first was harder. It did hurt. But nothing I couldn't handle. And it was amazing. My second was no problem at all. An amazing experience. I am going natural for sure with my third. Wouldn't trade it!! I tore with my first and didnt even know it. Just barely with my second. Both healed fine. No stitches. Just educate yourselves ladies!! :)
  • I did kegals my second trimester & gave myself an UTI (i know goofy) LOL. I'm on bedrest because I have pulmonary embolism & bunch of infections through out my pregnancy

  • I'll try that massage, I looked it up like you referred me to. So that will be great. I did my kegals wrong. I was told the best way to do them is if your holding your urine. I found it easier to do them as I went to potty.
  • I had an excruciating birth with my twins. Horribe, awful, painful torture. I would do it all over again for them but there is no denying it was the worst pain imaginable. I was induced and had a failed epidural. They were both 7 pounds and I had to deliver them flat on my back in an operating room. I will definitely be looking into ways to make the experience better, because it couldn't have been worse.
  • Wow, @lovemyangels I can't even imajon! Induction with no ipidural and on your back!!?? Sounds like torture!! Thats awefull, best news I can give you is this one should feel like NOTHING compared to that!! Even if you choose to do an epidural, I would sugjest not getting induces unless its a must! Normal contractions are soooo much easyer. WoW again. Your a brave strong women! I was on a birthing stool with my first. Sitting up on a bed with help on my second.
  • My friend has a 14 month old boy and she just sent me a picture of the first time she got to hold him. He looked fine, but she was so drugged up for her c section, she looked worn out, but super happy. She said being that dazed ruined the experience for her.
