  • Wow I don't understand why people get so upset on these posts
  • Burts Bees Wax chap stick is the best for keeping them away!
  • I got them from many different things from to much wind, running a fever, stress, there are many different things that could cause one. Yes it is true you carry this virus that does not mean you will pass it on to your unborn child. Both my brother and I get them but my mom has never had one, husband or children have never had them. At mommyof3boys just because you are going to school and is a nurse doesnt mean you know everything, in the medical world things change daily and alot of things happen or do not happen that is not in medical book. No need to tell people who get cold sores they dont know what there talking about when you have never had them. Its people like you that makes people like some of us who get them sometimes feel nasty for having them and how it does hurt when people stair at it. It is very common and sometimes just something that happens its nothing a certain person did that resulted in them getting it.

Some people are predisposed to coldsores through their genetics. They are highly contagious. But also some people can be born with it, passed down from their mother during birth. They can be caused by stress, fever, and other things. Dont bust it or bother it, because it just makes it very ugly and can sometimes cause a bruise, and you can spred it to yourself. They will go away on their own in about two or three weeks. But using Releeve, helps in about a week. The term for it is Herpes Labialis. But it is very common, and in alot of cases people cannot control getting them. They dont always come from sexual contact. You can get it from shaking hands. Now days, if you want to stay completely healthy, you almost need to be born and stay at home, never go anywhere, dont interact with people, and try not to touch yourself either. Its crazy how hard it is to stay away from things. I want to be like John Travolta in "Boy in a Plastic Bubble" lol.
  • @Mommy_2_B I get these things on thr corners that my doc said is just dehydration cuts. Pretty much where my lips split from being dry. They kinda swell up and look like a cold sore. So try drinking some water and putting a wet rag on it if thats what it could be. I get them more during pregnancy then normal... My dic says it normal and not a virus, disease or anything... As he say Just a fact of life, drink water!!
  • *doc says... lol
  • Um I've gotten cold sores my whole life. Doc told me it is a form of herpes but you can even get it s a baby from someone kissing you with it. Sharing a cup with your aunt uncle mom dad cousin who has it! Does not mean your gross its quite normal and common. My doc told me just not to do oral sex when I get them cause I can pass them to the penis as full blown herpes
Anyways to treat them watch eating and drinking things with high acid. Caramex since yours in on outside. I never get them on outside. Or seriously call you doc. U can talk to the nurse about it... you will be OK!
  • I've goten fever blisters since I was a baby. I actually have 1 right now.. I get them anywher on my face, chin cheeks nose lips. Its just something I have learned 2 deal with. Theyr no fun, very painful, an the stares from people can tend 2 b hurtful. I hav found howevr that usually the night before 1 pops up the area is kinda tingly an itchy so I put clear nail poish over while I sleep. Then usually the next morning I can peel the nail polish off an no fever blister. Hope this helps :)
