high bloodpressure...

edited March 2011 in Second Trimester
i'm 22weeks... had an apointment today and my bp was 136/86. it usually around 110/60[ish]. My dr told me to invest in a blood pressure cuff and im supposed to take it once a day. If the bottom number gets any higher im supposed to go to his office. Im nervous. what can i do to keep it down? I don't want it to get any higher. i don't want to be put on bed rest!

  • Try to stay out of stressful situations.:)
  • im not under a lot of stress.
  • Eating a healthy diet and exercising is suppose to help too. Salt is bad for blood pressure too.
  • Pregnancy and stress from work brought on mine, but doc said it rising is normal. Got put on a low dose prescription and a lot of monitoring. My advice take it easy. But when I think I'm stressed its normal, when I least expect it, its high. Doc told me I'm safe to keep it under 140/90. At apt today it was 120 ish/80 ish which was shocking. Good luck.
  • I had bp probs too at 28 weeks my doc wanted to deliver me bc my bp spiked hitting a dangerous 167/99 anyway I was in the hospital. For a while managed to get it down and keep it down below 140/90 I have a form of preeclampsia known as toxemia anyway iwith a healthy diet and bed rest I managed to get to 37 wks and 2dys I had an appt today and the doc told me the baby is under too much pressure now. And that they need to induce me. I will have my son on Thursday I will be 37wks and 5dys. I'm just glad I made it this far
