csection question

edited March 2011 in Second Trimester
Hey guys, was wondering if any of u have had more than 1 csection? I had one on my daughter when she was born in aug 08. I'm due my second this aug and have been told may have to have a 2nd section. Do they use the same scar area for each section? Im really hoping to go natural on this one!

  • In my experience they used the same scar which i think most do an i was too big of a chicken to do a vbac so now i get to hav one for each pregnancy i think only id theres somthin wrong with ur first scar is wen they make a different one
  • With me it was a little different. With my first I had to have an emergency c-section and I was cut vertically instead of horizontal. When I moved to Germany I had my second daughter here and If I had been cut horizontal then I could have had her naturally. But for some reason when your cut vertically, it makes your uterus weaker. Also because of how I am cut its only safe for me to have 3 children, which I'm now 28 weeks pregnant with our son. But I don't know how its done in the states with multiple c-sections but I'm sure they will use the same scar as before unless you ask for it to be different.
  • Yeah @irishmommy they use the same section scar to cut.. I've had 2 and will have to have another with this baby
  • They are using a new cut because this time I am having twins
  • I have had all for by c-section,2 of those emergency c-section. They cut the same place then clean out the built up scar tissue. I will be having my 5th c-section in September.
  • Four* not for. Lol,darn phone
  • Wowww!! @snowflake...5c's... i thought the most was 3? This will be my 3rd c and last. Im such a biggg chicken for v-delivery...
  • I had a emergency c-section with my 2nd and a vbac with my 3rd. I am going to have a c-section with this one and was wondering the same thing. I have never heard of being able to only have 3 c-sections tho? Did they tell u why?
  • They have changed the rules a lot in how many c se tions you can have. It used to be 3 because they did the incision vertically, but I havent heard a number on whats safe now. This will be our fourth baby, all csections. I cant do natural, my pelvic is too low. Same scar everytime and I think recovery is easier after multiple c's. Good luck ladies!
  • They told me it got higher risk if i went past 3. There is more chance of uterine rupture or placenta problems but so far i have done fine with them.
