is 35 weeks too early to go into labor?

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
I'm having contractions and when I went in they told me they would let me have him and wouldn't try to stop it. I'm slightly excited bc I'm so ready to not be pregnant. I haven't had an easy pregnancy. And I was told he would be perfectly fine and id get to take him home but then I read stuff about babies having to stay in the hospital for weeks. Now I'm confused. In 5 days ill be 36 weeks and that's full term. Eh help?

  • It's a little early, but not horrible. Some babies are perfectly fine, some need a little extra cooking time. If they said he would be fine, I would trust in that.
  • I think it just may depend on babys weight and lungs.
  • likely bub will be fine most.ud probably stay a week if having any difficulties breathing but should be ok, all the best xx
  • I have friends who had their babies as early as 34 weeks and went home right after with baby. They probably don't want to stop it at this point because it would be more beneficial than pumping you full of drugs to stop labor. I wouldn't worry, it seems that both you and the baby are ready to end this pregnancy and finally meet!
  • 36 weeks is full term & they won't stop labor once you reach that point. As long as your baby is healthy, can breathe & eat on their own then he'll be able to come home.
  • A bit, they prefer 36 or 37 weeks. It's all about lung maturity, but if u do deliver, ull b better off vaginally than a c-section for sure. I wouldn't worry too much, if they think it'll b fine, trust them... they r professionals after all.
  • Thanks y'all. Its so nice to know that more than likely he will be okay. I'm almost sure I wont make it much longer. These contractions are starting to get pretty regular and quite painful. Id just feel a lot better if I make it till Friday. That's 36.
