sleeping on my right side

edited March 2011 in Second Trimester
I've read in several articles that sleeping on my left side is better for the baby and circulation. But for some reason when I do lay on that side it feels funny. When I lay on my right side I feel way better. Am I alone with this?

  • You're not alone. I find it better to sleep on my right side. But I guess any side is ok
  • No I do the same thing I even try to katy on my left and I wake up on my right! I dont know either :(
  • It dnt mattet wat side. Everyones body is diff watever is comfortable to u is the way u should sleep. I met this lady who studies pregnancy and other stuff artickes are dumb lol sleep how u want mama
  • i do the same thing...and the right side is so comfortable...ill start out on my left but end up on my right smh lol
  • The only way I can sleep is if its on my stomach :(
  • I sleep on my tummy if I sleep alone. With my baby daddy I sleep on the sides facing away or on his chest
  • @maymommy2011 I end up my right as
    well its strange.
@anadoll92 I didn't care my first pregnancy lol but I guess I've begun obsessing this time because my son was still born. But I do stll end up on the right so oh well is kind of how it is lol.
  • my dr said that he has never heard of sleeping on the left side being better for you... he just said sleep on your side because you can block a blood vessel or something like that...
  • @prayin4agirl I can understand that but if I even lay on my stomach or lean to far over from NY side my daughter gets mad and kicks me. She's rather bossy to say this is my body
  • Aw im sorry. I know wat u mean by obseessing I make sure I take my prenatels everyday and stay away from.microwaves
  • @anadoll92 its Okay. But yes I take my vitamins this time also and don't stress at all and I stay away from cold meats lol obsession can take over like that because I hate warm subs! Lol
  • Laying on your left is better for circulation due to an artery that is slightly offset to the right side of your body. However, my hips are out of alignment and it is impossible for me to lay on my left and now @ 35 weeks I can't breathe well if I lay on my back, so the right side is my only options. I think I'm going to end up in the recliner before its over. Some women will get dizzy or pass out when laying on the right or their back because the baby presses on the artery. As long as this doesn't happen to you then you are perfectly fine. Just be comfortable!!!
  • Lol I had a ct pelvic scan wen I wad 5 weeks and I didnt know I cried and cried cuz of google stories my dr says shes finw but ive gotten paranoid I threw my brand new micro wave awaaaaaay
  • @anadoll92 my Dr says the same she says this pregnancy looks good way better than I did with my son but I still try not to stress and let people bother me I stopped talking to her dad(my husband) because I felt like he was stressing me out lol. So you throwing the microwave out I understand lol I don't even eat the same things I used to.
  • I even had google blocked on my phone horrible radiation stories and drs making ppl who had scan get abortions or a girl getting an abortin cuz her baby had deformities :( I have to dra and I make sure I get u.s I wouldnt abort my baby anyway but I just love and want to see her. Yes the microwave out. I just eat veggies and fruit thata all I want lol
  • @bluegrass_mommy Ive read it several time but it hasn't been comfy if I lay on my left I end up almost on my tummy lol and she hates that. But I hope it gets better you're in the stretch on third about to slide into home: -)
  • @anadoll92 I read a book about that and the lady decided to carry her baby full term even though she died shortly after it was a beautiful story. I understand I love my baby too and even though im scared im also excited to hold my little diva just like you are.
  • @justamOmmy at 1st I wud always lay on mi rite side. Then as I gt bigger I can only lay on mi left side. Sum pple say layin on ur left iz bad kuz ur heart n the baby heart on that side. Bt I dnt pay them mo mind kuz shes kickin me all nite
  • My doctors say either side helps with circulation and blood flow, but the left side for some reason helps a little more. They say to try not to lay on my back for too long cause that's not good for the baby.
  • The one thing I noticed most of the time is that I feel more comfortable on my right as well. My reasoning for this is because its supposed to be off limits. I also heard the stuff about the blood vessels on the right and what not and so it makes it seem so tempting because your not supposed to so to speak.

Now im scared I dnt want my baby to die
  • @anadoll92 don't worry honey everything will be fine and you will deliver a healthy beautiful baby!
  • Thanks momma ur kind words mean alot seriously :)
  • You do get better circulation by laying on your left side. My sister was put on bed rest and was told to lay on her left side as much as possible. Its not bad to lay on your right side, it's just a little better to lay on the left. My sciatic nerve was pinched so bad that the most comfortable way for me to sleep was on my right side or my back. Whichever way you sleep, baby will be just fine :)

  • I'm on my back or left side. Right side it feels like too full to lay down feeling. It's horrible.
