Morning Sickness is Threatening my Job :(

This is my first pregnancy and I am always sick!! I am taking prescription meds for it, Ginger EVERYTHING, and snacking before I get hungry. This helped for a while and now its back worse than ever. My job is stressful and I have been forced to call in a lot lately because I am so sick, I can't walk 10 feet without getting sick. I guess this is more me venting than asking for advice...I'm just trying not to stress because I know it's not good for the baby. I'm just lost and don't know what to do. :(

  • I'd tell your boss why, if you haven't already. They can't fire you for being pregnant, carry a trash can with you if you have too!
  • I truely believe mind over mater works. I do it all the time. Just tjink that you aren't going to vomit, cover you mouth/nose with your hand or sleeve and just breath evenly in and out for a min.

  • I didn't have morning sickness w my first n this baby made up double time! I work in a dr's office so I was super sensitive to smells...imange me puking in the garbage infront of patients! It sucks majorly but it does get better. I'm at 22wks and the only smell or time I get close to being sick is the smell of dog food and I need to feed my dogs twice a day. Good luck and congrats on being a new momma!
  • You may have hyperemesis like me, and no mind over matter can fix that! You need to find out if you qualify for FMLA which just makes it so that you can't be fired bc of your condition. I had to to this with my last pregnancy and this one already, I'm on my short term disability, thankfully I pay for that...hang in there and make sure your doctor checks you frequently for dehydration, you may need iv fluids...
  • @hjkmatthews I was going to say the same thing. I have hyperemesis as well and had it with my first also. Pic line for 3 1/2 months. How far along are you? How sick are you this time?
  • I quit! found another job in the evenings and more sympathetic of my pregnancy! so much happier even though I almost cut my income in half. I have plans to make extra cash though!
  • The problem with FMLA is that even if my absences are excused like that it is a big deal when anybody that works my position misses because of the few people they have filling the position. They can't hire anymore people, because corporate wont allow it.
@ghettobetty I am at that point too...I'd rather my baby be safe and healthy then over work myself and be so sick.

Thanks ladies!! For all of your input. :)
  • @ qutekitten, I am 11 weeks tomorrow, started getting sick at 6 weeks this time. Got a PICC line on Friday for fluids...last time I was sick from 10 weeks to 6 1/2 months! Hoping it won't go that long this time.
