anyone waiting to find out sex?

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Is anyone going to be surprised on delivery day? This is our fourth and will be our last. I want it to be a surprise, and hubby doesn't really have a problem with waiting. But I wonder if anyone else does that anymore, and if the U/S will give it away, even if I don't want to know! Anyone else trying to be surprised?

  • Im couldn't wait. Lol but to answer about the ultrasound, when you walk in the room tell them you don't want to know the sex and they wont show you or tell you, so it shouldn't give it away :) best of luck hun and congrats on your pregnancy!!!
  • I'm going in two wks I'm uber excited
  • I am going to be surprised! This is my first and I'm so excited, it has made the pregnancy so much fun! Everyone is mad at me for not finding out but then they love trying to guess. I think it is a neat way to get my husband involved on delivery day because everyone is going to be anxiously awaiting the news and he gets to be the one to run out in the waiting room and shout "it's a ___"! I just remember my nieces and nephews being born and it was so anti-climatic since everyone already knew the sex. Congrats to you!
  • We're waiting. My hubby could care less either way (a kid is a kid and it's a huge responsibility whether a boy or a girl). My parents and my brother all are excited about not knowing until delivery; I think even my in-laws almost like the idea because they said, "Well, we never knew until the baby was born."

I'm only 12 weeks so I haven't had the ultrasound tech. issue yet. If the tech. accidently gives it away, I won't be devastated though. Plus, the techs and the docs get it wrong sometimes, so you can never be sure 'til that baby is in your arms and you can see for yourself.
  • Well they hadd 1st toldd mehh it was a boyy ndd I was so excitedd. Buhh durinn my last sonogramm they saidd it was a gurl. /: I will b happy with watever godd sends mehh buh im still hopinn for that lil boyy. (:
  • My boyfriend and I are enjoying ticking people off (especially our mother's and sisters.) :D. We don't really want to find out until little one is here, so hooray for you not wanting to know! :P woot!
  • @KayleeAndAmaiyasmommy thanks, I'll tell them. I was worried about them giving it away :) That's a really good idea!

@bluegrass_mommy and@ BOWsMommy YAY we will all be surprised hopefully. I think it will be great to have that last bit of surprise. We didn't find out with our first, and even the dr was excited to find out what she was :) since its a scheduled c section we have lots of the "traditional" excitment taken away, so this will be one thing we can still be surprised over :)
  • @lilNugget11: My hubby likes to go against "what's expected" and all that, so he's decided when people ask boy or girl, he's going to reply, "Yep." He's going to thoroughly enjoy it.
  • we're waiting:) 11 more days to go!
  • no way we couldnt wait. found out last tuesday we r having a girl
  • @blondie93 crazy! Well you will still be surprised too I guess. Usually its girl to boy change, crazy that they said boy, now girl! Don't buy too much pink, i bet its the boy you are hoping for. But then girls are awesome too :)

@LilNugget11 its fun isn't it. Everyone wants to know what color to buy. I said blue and purple is good for both genders :)
  • @BOWsMommy I luv that! Gonna use it too :)

Wow @mommajan your so close. Good luck and congrats!

@First5imeDaddy congrats on your pink bundle of joy. Its still an exciting moment when they tell you isn't it :) easier to think of one name instead of two also! We are still waiting though, haha
  • Yeah, I don't really get the argument that you can't pick out a registry or a nursery without knowing the sex... That is ridiculous. I say the only color that can't go both ways is pink. Reds, blues, purples, greens, yellows, brown, black, white--they all can be for boy or girl in my opinion. Plus, not only do the docs get it wrong on occasion, but also I might want more kids and I want to be able to re-use everything I get so I want it all gender neutral.
  • When someone asks if we know what we are having we tell them, "a baby". People get so mad but it is so much fun! We did the nursery in yellow and green with a baby animal theme.
  • @BOWsMommy I agree with that. In fact we went to look at baby stuff this weekend (strollers car seats, playpens, etc) and sooo many things were pink! Even if I knew it was a girl I would not want to carry around a pink car seat (i don’t like that color anyway, haha). So I picked out an animal theme with elephants (my fav animal). My oldest says if its a girl it wont "match her" I told her green and animals are good for both girls and boys.
  • @bluegrass_mommy YAY for green/yellow and animal themes :) luv all the baby elephants and baby girafee stuff i've seen :)
  • @cicelia - I had a shower yesterday and got the cutest thermal tote with elephants on it. It came from 31 gifts and is able to be embroidered with the babys name once he or she gets here. Look them up online, I'm sure they have other products with the same pattern.
  • I luv elephants, turtles, and dragonflies. Saw some really cute dragonfly stuff for girls, but it was so VERY girlie! I've chosen a Winnie the Pooh crib set at Target.com that is primarily brown and cream colors, with blue/green/red/yellow all mixed in.
  • Elephants YAY I am going to look it up @bluegrass_mommy thx for the tip. Pretty sure elephants will be all over babies room :)

@BOWsMommy My cousin had dragonfly stuff for her girl, it is really cute but hers was girlie too. Winnie the pooh is always a good choice, had that for my first (she's 13 so that stuff is long gone now, haha). I love eeyore :)
  • Definately digging greens, blues, and yellows! loving animal themes. @cicelia I'm going to share that "yep" idea with the bf, he'll love that!! Thanks!
