No Appetite!

edited January 2011 in First Trimester
I'm 5w3d, and I've noticed that ever since I found out I was pregnant (4 days ago), I haven't had much of an appetite at all. I usually eat CONSTANTLY, but lately nothing seems appetizing to me. I eat a little here and there because I know I have to for Lil Bean, but I literally have to force myself to do so. Oddly, I rarely feel hungry, but my stomach growls out of control. I don't wanna endanger my baby, but eating really turns me off. I've been taking my prenatal vitamins, so I hope everything will be okay. Any advice? Has anyone else felt this way?

I'm 14w3d & I have no appetite, but I knw I need to eat, for my baby. . .that's my motivation & the fact that I'm losing weight, but I just snack on small things every 2 hours if I dnt feel like a big meal. . .
  • I am the same way girl. Im 7 weeks now but for the past two weeks (since I found out) it is very difficult to eat. Nothing is appetitzing to me anymore and I have to force myself to swallow it. I keep joking with my fam I feel like I am anorexic ( im not tho, i was a piggy before this lol) I think it has a lot to do with the constant nausea and also the vomitting after eating a certain food, it totally turns me off to that particular food afterwards so I find myself eating like a bird and eating very plain things. Cherrios is the easiest for me :) hope you start to feel better real soon ;)
  • Same here Im 13 wks and can't eat... I take two or three bites and I'm done.. I'm worried that I'm hurting my baby but I can't help it I used to have an eating disorder a few years ago and am worried it starting again because I'm gaining weight... I force myself To eat at least every three hours but like I said two or three bites..
  • Oh also try to eat very small meals I find that if I get too excited because I am happening to feel well in that moment if I over eat it makes me ill again...
  • I've been sharing the nausea appetite killer problem, too. Nothing looks good. Nothing smells good. Nothing tastes good. Except maybe rarely for a brief window and then I can eat. But if I smell the food after I'm done eating I get hit by a fresh wave of nausea. And I get more nauseous when I'm hungry. But I can't eat because it makes me gag.
  • Im so glad to hear other people on here saying they can't eat! Im on my 16th week and haven't gained a pound. Just like all of you, im having a hard time eating. I was real sick the first three months, only threw up a handful of times but was ALWAYS nauseas. Im feeling better now, but still can't eat a full meal. Most of the time I just force myself to eat, but I get full sooo fast. I too, used to love to eat! So now, like some of you said im just eating smaller amounts but trying to eat more often. I am REALLY getting tired of people giving me crap though, it seems like everyone is on my case about eating! They think im just worried about gaining weight, but that's not it at ALL. I wish I could eat more, but nobody seems to understand what I feel like. On top of that my husbands cousin is pregnant too, 2 weeks behind me and she's already gained 10 pounds... she never once was sick, and everyone is comparing me to her:( it not fair.
  • Here's to all of us non-eaters. I hope we feel better soon. I hate feeling like I'm harming my unborn. :(
  • I hate feeling like my unborn already hates me! That's not supposed to happen for 13 more years!
  • Hey ladies I'm 18w and 2 days... And still can't eat. Doc keeps tell me to gain weight cause I've lost like 18 pounds.... So I think I've eating twice today.
  • Ladies. Look up the dry diet. I just posted about it on another thread about being sick.

You don't drink any fluids while you eat, and wait half an hour between fluids and dry food. I think there's even more guidelines if that doesn't help, but that's it in a nutshell. Look it up.
  • I make smoothies to help me. I put fruitd and even some vegies in it with yougurt and milk and that seems to help me. I'm 8 weeks and anything food like makes me sick :/ but since you drink a smoothie it seems to help not to chew. Good luck ladies! Maybe smoothies will help you too!
  • I'm 11 weeks and I'm straving in the morning and that's it I only eat after that cause I know I have to for my baby I rather drink fluids and my dr said that's fine tobut I force myself to eat
