Bc when ur water breaks u are at a risk for infection. Water births are probably gonna be more sterile than a bath tub. I don't see the problem with taking a shower as long as u have someone there in case contractions would get too bad to stand. Of course u prolly wouldn't wanna do that if contractions were close together. My water didn't break until I was 10cm and ready to start pushing
It all depends on the doctor and hospital. They are very concerned about infection. Have you been checked for group b strep yet? If you are positive for that, its another reason to come right to the hospital as you can pass it on to baby if you don't get your antibiotics which can cause serious problems with the baby. You shouldn't be worried about getting cleaned up or freshened up though hun, you will get much more messy after your water breaks.
If your water breaks its going to continue to run out anyway. So you will never be " clean " plus drs and hospitals are used to it, especially if they are telling you not to bath. Another reason is if there is any meconium in the fluid, you NEED to be at the hospital when you deliver so they can suction it out of baby before baby takes first breath. Otherwise they can aspirate on it and it can lead to pnemonia.
