Is it TOO soon?!

To buy baby furniture? I'm 16 weeks 3 days, and I find out the sex of the baby in 2 days!!! I just got a Babies R us catalog in the mail, and the crib & furniture that I want is on sale until April 14th. The crib, dresser, and changing table/dresser combo comes in a set for almost $400 dollars off! Plus I have a 20% off coupon. My mom thinks its too early for me to be buying furniture. But I don't know how often these sales happen, or how often THE set I want will be on sale this good. I don't wanna take the chance that my set won't be on sale again. Are these sales regular or should I jump on the chance?!

  • I would just get it, sounds like a good deal. As long as you have some place to store it.
  • @frankie218 yeah it is a really good deal. And I want to get some of the big expenses out of the way. Well were moving into a new apartment so I'd just set it up in the baby's room.
  • My preggo book says its never too early to start getting tge nursery together. One less thing!
  • @Cait_septemberMommy some ppl "Older" Thinks we should wait until were around 6 months. Bc they think its "Bad Luck" to buy things to early. I bought things early with my other two....I mean heck u can always return it. So I would go for it....
  • @sara102011 I'm starting to agree that its never too early, I'm wanting to start nesting already!
  • I'm only 11 weeks and i wish i could have absolutely everything. But i don't have anything. :( lol
  • How did u order that catalog?
  • @mami2be Yeah, I think my mom does think it is bad luck and she believes in Italian tradition, where you basically don't buy anything until the baby is almost here. But I can't wait that long!! I had a previous miscarriage, so I've never gotten this far along. But everything with my baby has been going great. I'm just excited to set up the nursery!!
  • Girl you have to buy when u can afford to these days and trust your baby will be fine! Burrlington's has a huge sale in Houston I'm going to put some stuf on lay-away tomorrow

  • @Mommy2be11 I went to babies r us about a month ago, to get a sleeping pillow for me. And when I signed up for a rewards card (not a credit card), they asked for my address, and then they just mail them to me.
  • @preggointx I can afford it, and my grandparents are buying it for me as a gift, so I don't really have to worry about that. Burrlington has baby furniture?

  • I am 7 Wks and I already want to buy furniture but I don't know. The sex lol but there is nothing wrong with buying unisex colors like yellow, orange, red, purple anthing not pink lol. I work at Walmart so u can just imagine me on my break
  • @FirstTimeMommyToBe The set of 3 pieces is $1199, normally it is almost $1,600. The price might be a lot for some people. But the crib is a 4-in one. So the baby will never need another bed. I just like the quality and the look. I've looked everywhere, and I like this one the best!
This is the crib and then the matching pieces are linked on it.

  • I found a cute set at walmart. It includes a crib, a changing table, and a glider rocking chair with ottoman for $399. Now all I need a few little dressers and I should be straight.
  • I say buy it. As soon a the double stroller I want is on sale I'm buying it and I'm only 12 weeks. If you know it's for sure what you want get it.
  • I'd go ahead and buy it too. Maybe you can just not set it up until closer to the due date to make your mom happy. I got my stuff at 18 wks for my daughter and I'm only 9 wks now and I'm already dying to get it all out of storage! I'm holding out for my gender ultrasound though, so I only have to sort stuff once.
  • I'm only 15 weeks and I've had everything for a month. ;)
  • Im about to order one from walmart its $400 comes with a glider n ottoman, dresser, changing table, and crib that changes to a toddler bed n im only 17 weeks bt u cant beat tat price n plus since I dny know the gender buyin this satisfies my need to go baby shoppin n u dnt need to kniw the sex for furniture :)
  • Its never too early to buy the necessities like furniture and diapers. Waiting to put it together should satisfy your mom. I had mcs too, and my MIL told me it was bad luck, too. I planned to have a baby someday no matter what, and when my daughter was finally born, I had the crib of my dreams to lay her in, and at a good price, too!

I honestly feel it's your own decision when to tell people and buy stuff. My cousin started telling people when she was about a month and a half along. Most of my friends posted early too! I however waited until I was atleast 20 weeks before telling any of my friends and buying stuff for my baby but only because I am a bit paranoid and was bleeding during my first trimester. It turned out to be bleeding spots in my placenta (nothing too serious) and the baby is currently doing great! (I'm now 31 Weeks 2 Days) Good luck <3 <3
  • I'm due Sept 01 and I just ordered crib online from babies r us! I can't wait!
  • Get it! I started buying stuff before I knew what she was.
  • Oh just keep receipts
