i have a confession.....

edited March 2011 in Pregnant
Ok, I have been going on gut instinct the last couple weeks. I knew I was pregnant, but was scared to death to get confirmation.... I know its a bad thing to do, but I have been treating myself as if I were pregnant without actually knowing for sure.... well I got a positive hpt today, and now I'm lost.... what's my next step? Do I contact a Dr for confirmation, or do I get to Dhs and fill out insurance and wic paperwork?

  • Doctor first usually medical insurance through dhs will cover past 3 months nut do everything ASAP to get the ball rolling. :) Congrats!
  • You have to get dr confirmation before you can get medicaid and wic
  • you have to have a blood testdone cuz that is the only thing dhs will take as proof of positive pregnancy
  • Go apply for Medicaid they will tell you where you can go to get you free proof of pregnancy. They don't pay everything from the past 3 month I am stuck with a $500 bill because the said the ultrasound wasn't approved. But anyways here I could go to the health department get a free test and temporary pregnancy Medicaid which only covers prenatal care until yours is approved they also provide you with a list of doctors who accept the temporary and full Medicaid.
  • Yeah go get a positive from the doctor and they will give you paperwork saying you are pregnant some will give you medicaid papers but then go file for medicaid
  • Ok. Thanks so much, ladies. I'm 30 years old and have zero experience with this. Lol. I don't really have any girlfriends to ask, so the bf and I are a little shellshocked and lost.
  • No. I didnt have a blood test. Just gpt a free test done at a womens clinic, they gave me a paper for medicaid.. proof.
  • Just go to www.parenthelp123.org. that is what I did and I got medacaid and atomaicaly qulify for wic. They did it in two days!
  • Oh it will tell you if you qulify for anything else as well.
  • @baby_bump. Thanks so much. Will definitely look into that!
