  • My mom did one for about fifteen years what do u need to know?
  • How to start. How much an average fee is. I want to quit my 45 hr a week job to do it to stay home when my son is born.
  • She just closed it about five years ago I grew up there and the only advice I have for you on the kids side is don't ever make ur kids feel like the daycare kids are more important for example like don't get more mad at ur kids that the daycare kids and always do little extras with ur kids after the daycare kids leave I know it will be draining but that daycare will take over ur life so for ur relationships sake make room for ur own family I'm sure u were planning on it and please don't take offense just want u to always keep that in mind. ;)
  • OK so the average price is whatever is average in your area u have to call around to other daycares and ask how much they charge tell them u have an infant a two year old and a seven year of and the seven year old has Downs or something ask how much per hour per each kid
  • I have a home daycare and have been in business for almost 7years. I started so I could stay home with our 3rd child and have more normal family hours.
How to start is dependent on if you want to be state licensed or not. Each state has different rules and regulations. Research on the internet. Find some sample contracts and make sure you have one w each family. Do resrarch on going rates for your area and set your rates. Dont waffle if someone doesnt like it. You will need to decide if you want to provide meals, diapers, wipes, formula etc. anything else?
  • You need to go to the state to get licenced it takes some hours of schooling with them or other agencies and you need a list of how many kids u can accept and all the things like baby gates nap area mats dishes planned activities and whatever else you will need to buy well besides age appropriate toys and such and if there is a meal plan through your state for free food see if you want to do that or quality or if you will need parents to bring food or charge them for it and if you accept sate aid kids parents will forget to fill out paperwork then u wont get paid so make sure and stay on there butts and other parents will ask for more time only have a certain timeline they can be late by and if they go over u need to drop them until they pay up and if there spot fills oh well I know it sounds heartless but if u don't I'll end up like my mom and get screwed by allot of people and when they can't hold u off anymore they will leave u high and dry and I don't know if ur married but that will strain that relationship too but any other questions just ask. :) good luck girl if it is do e right I could make bank
  • It has never put a strain on my relationship w my hubby or children. It is our daycare, and the daycare families become an extended family to us. I agree with having a set time.for payments...my families pay t friday before the week of care, and if they pay later than close of daycare on Fridays they pay a $10 per day late fee till paid and no care till paid. Also, you dont have to be state licensed, but you will keep a smaller amount than if licensed.
  • Right absolutely right sorry didn't know u could be not licenced I just knew my mom was and right with the extended family too I'm glad ur family has time together and there is no strain that's awesome I wasn't trying to scare her off just some people do the wrong things while owning a buisness like my mom I love her to pieces just wish she would have done that also she was open 24-7 and so yea but I'm glad she gets to hear from u too I didn't want to say anything wrong. ;)
  • @momof22be...i dont think you said anything wrong. Lots of people put their career over their families not just daycare owners. I think its great shes getting several opinions:)
  • Actually it completely scared me away from the idea.
  • Oh no...what scared you?
  • Not having the time for my family or how to get started or the fact that everything that was said could ruin my happy ever after.
  • I have plenty of time for my family...my hours of daycare are 6:30 a-5:30p. My hubby works out side the home, but is a huge help w my dsycare. It does take some work to get started, especially if you want to be successful. And it also takes commitment, patience, and a love for kiddos. A ton of stay at home moms try it and many fail for various reasons...its not right for everyone. I think its normal to be nervous about starting any new things, but if its something you are truly interested in, do your research, ask lots of questions, and pray about it. Please dont hesitate to message me if I can be of any more help and im sorry if I said something to scare you.
  • I really did not mean to scare you just wanted you to be aware so that you can make things work for you like mommyof3soon2b4 has the right hours and is very conscious of what she is doing and it seemed she has it under control so I think like she said if you do things the way that is best for you and your family you will be fine and make enough money to pay those bills and get a bigger heart from it. ;)

I'm going to be doing it starting June average around here us 3 to 5 an hour per kid. I'm only taking on 3 kids no sat or Sunday pick up by 3:30 I also have a small part time at a small pizza shop 3 evenings a week or weekend. Keeps my sanity! Still. Plenty of family time my fiance works midnights anyways so he usually sleeps till. 2 or 3 anyways :) I'm already happy being home more with the kids plus cut out the cost of me paying daycare I did cut my income in half but come June when babysitting kicks in the income boost will even out :)
  • I have a home daycare. I charge 150 a week. Most daycares around here charge around 200-400 a week.
  • @natalie holy cow...where are you located for daycares to charge $200-$400 a week. Are you talking home daycare/facility? I charge $110 for infants to 3 if potty trained and $90 for 3+....there are places that charge more and ones that charge less, so I'm pretty comfortable in the middle.
  • @mommyo3soon2b4 they charge so much because most open at 4am and close at 6 or 7pm. They provide everything except for carseats for trips.
