I DIDNT KNOW WIC DID THAT! COOL. ND IKR(I KNOW RIGHT) ITS FREE!! LOL BUT I JUST DONT KNOW HOW LONG I WOULD DO IT. I PLAN ON WORKING ND GOIN BACK TO SCHOOL SO I KNOW IT WONT BE LONG. MAYBE A COUPLE OF MONTHS!
@jwigs idk if its different by state, but you just need to be income eligible. Call an office near you I just lost my job, so I'm thinking about going.
My first I nursed him until a year, and my second, until she was 10mos. I for sure plan on it again. It's a wonderful bond with your baby. And of course, o love that it was free! Lol.
Yea I'm gonna do it it was painful but I did it for 6 weeks with my daughter then had to go back to work....I'm gonna try the pump this time I hear its less painful and I can do it longer cause I can pump bottles for while I'm at work
I plan on breast feeding it is the best milk for the baby and help with the baby immune system. I plan on pumping also when I go back to work. I heard you can freeze breast milk and its good for 3 to 6 months and its free.
I breastfed with my first and it was totally worth it for me. Like everyone else mentioned it is free but its some alone time and bonding time with the baby. Just make sure to pump some for daddy to feed! They get a huge kick out of it. I didn't have any pain but I started toughening my nipples early with a wash cloth in the shower. Definitely something you should consider. Two..accept s breastfeeding consultation at the hospital. I know I was thinking how hard could it be?? Turns out they have all kinds of great advice!
In florda they give wic to you for six months after you give birth anyways, plus wic for your child up to five. I plan on breastfeeding even if only for a couple of weeks. I had issues producing milk w/my other kids so I'm not sjre if I can but imma try
I plan on it as well, my first it did nt work out at all it was so difficult, but I think because the nurse gave. Him a bottle before I could even try to breast feed, this time I'm going to demand that they do not give our baby a bottle! I want to breast feed first in hopes it will work out better with our little one, also lots of benefits for the baby!
Am planning on pumping...as for the person who.said she will get checks from wic to breastfeed sorry honey they dont..i i use work for them n there all yhe same everywhere....who told u that?
I breastfed my first for 23 monthes, and yes, the first couple of weeks were painful, but after that it wasn't at all. Just don't give up quickly- it gets so much better! Besides, I lost all the baby weight PLUS an additional 10lbs (!) Within 3 monthes because of it & breastfeeding longer helped me keep it off, yay! My recommendation is to get a lanolin breastfeeding ointment (available at Target & Walmart in the breastfeeding supply section in the baby dept.,) and start using it 2-3 weeks before your due date... I heard -a little too late- that that would have helped me get through the first couple of weeks with less pain. Oh, and Soothies bra pads are incredible for relieving pain, but you can't use them at the same time as the lanolin. Good luck ladies! Its the best possible start you can give your babies!
I'm actually shocked to hear how many girls say its painful!, everyone is diff I know, but I got help from a lactation consultant (cuz my 1st was toungue tied) it never caused me pain, or never had cracked or bleeding nipples like others told me would happen! if the baby is latched on properly it shldnt cause pain. I highly recomend using the hospital consultent, then if you ARE involved with WIC they offer you one too! It may seem weird at 1st, but they are sooo helpful! Good luck Mamas! I hope you all have a wonderful bonding experience with your babies! (My two cents haha)
I did it for a year & a half with my son. It was so hard weening him. But for my next baby ill only do it for 6-8 max. It really helped with my son. Very beneficial abd convenient. Especially to those who don't smoke & drink heavily.
