can dogs sense emotion??

We have been ttc for 15 months now. Im an emotional reck sometimes. Everytime I start to cry my dog brings me her toy and sets it on my lap then tilts her head at me. If I don't acknowledge it she does it over and then barks at me. When I do acknowledge it she climbs in my lap and stares at me. Wth is she doing??

    Most defintely. They are soooo smart. Everytime I cry he is in my lap kissing my face and he always knows when im sad or sick

    when i was younger and i had no friends(literally) my dog was the only friend i had. she knew when i was sad and would scoot her head at my arm.. happy she would automatically jump around when i came home(didn't when i was sad) angry she would growl and bark.. so yeah i say dogs sense emotion..

    I have 2 dogs. One I have had since she was a month old and she is 10yrs old now. She has been there with me through a bad divorce and every night that I would cry, she would just sit on my lap with her little head on my chest. She definatly knows when I am sad. She is just showing that she loves you. :)

    Yes very much so. My gmas dog sensed something was wrong with me and would not get off of my belly. I was only 15. I went into the hospital th next day for surgery bc 4 months prior to that I got into an accident and broke my neck in 3 places and had a compound fracture. I had to have a plate put in my arm. The dog was treating me as if she had to protect me and my belly. My mom mentioned that the dog was acting differently from weeks ago. I went in like I said the next day, they did a pee test before I had surgery and found out I was pregnant. The dog was a therapy dog for a childrens hospital. She was very good at picking up on things! 9 months later I had a baby girl!!! Good luck with ttc!

    Thanks everyone for your insight. I've had her since she was 4 weeks old because someone put her and her 8 siblings in a box by a dumpster and my husband found them. We found homes for the other ones, but she was attached to us so we kept her. The reason I was asking about the emotion thing is I have three other dogs, and they don't seem to notice it. Maybe its because we have a different bond then the other ones...who knows!

    @needamiracle I have three dogs and only one of them am I super close with and if anything is wrong she's right there I think she knew I was pg before I did but dogs can sense a lot of things they are great!

    @rocknmomma they are great! I've never had a dog be soo in touch with me before. She is there all the time for me, if we are at the dog park she has to be right there if a dog walks up to me. I just didn't get the toy association, but maybe that's what comforts her so she thinks it will do the same to me. Who knows!
