  • Id pack now just so that your ready. As for what.. clothes for you and baby. Diapers too. A binkie if you are using them. Pads also, though I know the hospital usually gives pads.

Id def have a baby shower. It doesn't matter where you are from. The baby shower is a party to celebrate your new baby.
  • Well im 37 weeks and still havent packed my bag yet, im a procrastinator lol I might do it next week when im 38 just to b on safe side, im bringing the travel tolietries-deodorant,tooth brush, tooth paste, body wash, razor, hairbrush, hair gel, hair tie, im not big on make up so im just bringing lip gloss clothes: robe, slippers, socks, undies, pajamas or jogging pants something comfy while you there walking around or in your bed @ hospital..a go home outfit for you and for baby -her hat, mittens, receiving blanket... the hospital supplies everything you need for the baby while there.....as far as your baby shower I think every baby should be celebrated and im sure family and friends would love to help you celebrate your bundle of joy, I dont think it matters where you live
  • I'm from the UK too @Emmalouise
This is the list I'm working from, I got it off another pregnancy site, so it's pretty basic and standard. You'll probably want to add some of your own personal items and some bits may not apply at all:

    Items for your Labour Bag

✔ Your maternity notes and birth plan (make sure these are easily accessible)
✔ Loose cotton T-shirt or nightie to wear during labour
✔ Socks to keep your feet warm
✔ TENS machine if you are using one
✔ Natural sponge for mopping your face or sucking on
✔ Massage oil or lotion for back rubs
✔ Water spray to cool you down
✔ High energy snacks and drinks for you and your birth partner
✔ Towel, toiletries, tissues and hairbrush & hair bobbles/head-band
✔ MP3 player and camera (with charger or extra batteries)
✔ Money for car park and phone (& charger!) or a phone card.

    Items for your Hospital Bag

    For you:
✔ Nighties (front opening for breastfeeding), dressing gown and slippers
    ✔ Nursing bras
✔ Towel, wash things, toiletries, cosmetics, moisturiser and lip balm.
✔ Several old, cheap or disposable knickers
✔ Maternity or super-absorbent sanitary towels
✔ Clothes for going home in
✔ Books, magazines, birth announcement cards, pen (if you are staying in over night)

    For your baby:
✔ Newborn nappies and nappy sacks
✔ Baby toiletries and cotton wool
    ✔ 2/3 sleep suits
    ✔ 2/3 vests
✔ Outdoor clothes suitable for the time of year
    ✔ Shawls or cot blanket
✔ Baby car seat for taking your baby home

The check lists shown cover the main items you'll want to take with you, but you may want to add other, more personal items, such as a photograph of other children or a favourite CD.
Perishable items such as snacks and drinks for you and your partner can be added at the last minute.
  • @soniamarie88 me to I'm 33 weeks and still haven't packed, I made a list though lol! At least that way if we have to go, either we can throw it all in, or somebody else can pack it!
  • american thing... pish... you can have a baby shower in russia and it would still be perfectly fine... a baby shower is just a way to celebrate the upcoming birth of your child and to get friends and family to help with baby stuff in form of presents... and i think @tishlamort covered everything...
  • Thanks everyone :-)
