big boy bed?

edited March 2011 in Parenting
Hi wanting to hear some opinions. My 22m old is still in his crib and really I don't think he is ready to move to a real bed yet. BUT when he is ready did you get a toddler bed or just go for a twin that he could stay in till he moves out or gets overly tall like his dad.

Also is moving the bed like potty training? Ie if he's not ready you might as well pound your head on the wall cause its not going to work? I'm due at the end of Sept and I don't want to have to buy another crib

  • I would buy a toddler bed. I would start introducing to him now before the baby gets here. he will have time to adjust to it

I put my son in one at 14 months. He does good.
  • My son is 22 months too. He naps on his queen sized bed during the day. It's all sports themed with sports stuff hoping to make it more appealing. He cries when we put him on there at night. He is more comfortable in his crib and falls to sleep on his own there. It's still a struggle to transition him to his big boy bed for me. I am 15 weld and hoping to let him get used to a real med before then. If you have any ideas...please pass it along to me too.
