I was treated differently! Even my mother who has never been on Medicaid said I was treated poorly and if you would have read everything you would see I went to my ob and got the same treatment! Er was last resort as I was dehydrated and holding nothing down fir days and in pain! Its not uncommon for people to be treated poorly for being on welfare. @oreganmama don't know what world you live in but reality is people get stereotyped and discriminated against even in the medical field.
I agree w @OregonMama my ex SIS in law had Medicaid and was a.teen mom. I had both tricare and blue cross through my state job and we both had the same Dr and received the same care the only difference was i had copays and she didn't
Im glad you getting to go back to your old doc! And I know that at times I feel. Like im eing treated different bc of medicaid too. @oregonmama if you notice she said she switched docs and hospitals. And people do get treated different bc they get help from the goverment. Maybe not all the time but it does happen.
@jtmoon98 i would go ahead and look into the state insurance bc of your husbands medical insurance beiing bad. You are not free loaders in anyway shape or form. You just need some extra help with the bills. Most state insurance will go back 3 months for pregnancy. I have had it for all 4 of mine and not bc i or my husband haven't worked, bc we have just couldn't afford insurance through the company for dependents or for self bc rates to high.. Remember you pay into that w your taxes, you r entitled to it. Good luck hope this helps. @gettobetty congrats on making the move to better health treatment, you should not feel like you r just another number, i live in the country so i have to drive an half hr to my dr but will have to drive 45 min to the hospital so i feel yah.
@oregonmama don't come on my discussion without even reading the whole situation and call me silly for thinking the way I do. If you weren't going to have something positive to say go away your opinion is not wanted unless positive support! I don't take kindly to being talked down to by anyone! Opinion or not.
Unfortunately race plays a part too. If you black and are I'm assistance it plays into the stereotypes.funny thing is reality is most reciepi3its are white women.
@bigpoppa I know unfortunately I get stereotyped because I have mixed kids so I get put into the same category all the time.... especially in this little country town.
Being a very light skinned black man that can 'pass' I get to see both sides of the coin. Truth be told racism is above and well discrimination is still happening in every. Area of our society....
i dont feel that because of my medicaid i am treated different... i just think that it is the er in general that treats people bad... good luck betty... hope things get better...
@jtmoon98 good luck! Not all hospitals and doctors treat patients on medicaid poorly. That's why I switched I know this doc and hospital will not treat me poorly.
@uncaffeinated_Katie that sounds horrible I'm sorry you preggo going through all that. Its hard to find a good doc and hospital you can actually trust.
I have state insurance after having lost my good coverage when my job laid me & 89 other people off this past August. My ER still treats me great, but I am receiving horrible care from an OB clinic - the only place I can go who both accepts my type of insurance & high-risk patients. I have never had such sh*tty medical care from any medical practice in any form my entire life. So, I understand, because if I still had my BC/BS insurance, I'd be under the care of a high-risk specialist & I would never have to go to the clinic.
