boy vs. girl 3d ultrasound

i cannot upload our pic from the dr today yet but we r having what we think is a boy. i am 12 weeks today. his legs were spread the whole time, he was sleeping :) so cute but anyways, I know girls and boys kinda look the same at first but what we saw we thought was definately a boy. our doctor didnt want to take a guess yet tho. anybody get an early u/s and think it was a boy and it ended up being a girl?

    it really is! ive gotten 3 so far. this time baby was sleeping but every once in awhile he/she would start pointing at us!

    Both my boys looked like boys at 12 weeks and ended up being boys for sure at 20 weeks. :) 12 weeks is really early to tell though so there is a decent chance that it may turn out to be a girl. Gender is more easily seen in 2D though, rather than 3D.

    At 12 weeks the parts look exactly the same. They both look like boy parts

    Also keep in mind that it can be pretty easy to mistake the umbilical cord for boy parts this early, too.

    thank u so much for ur response. sometmes its hard to get a response on here unless u are starting problems! lol. dr couldnt really see anything there on 2d but on 3d I have 7 pretty clear pictures. I would def say boy though. I really wanted a girl but I think ive gotten over it :)

    and it definately wasnt an umbiblical cord. that was a whole separate part on the u/s

    It could still end up a girl. Theres no big difference in how the parts look until closer to 20 weeks

    Yeah im not finding out until 20 weeks because of the fact i want a girl and dont want to get confused:)

    At 12 weeks what you see will either end up being a penis or a clitoris. They look the same at that age! Sorry it could still be a girl.

    I had a nuchal us at 11w 3d and they said boy. Needless to say weeks later he is still a he lol.

    The parts do look the same but docs should be able to tell by the angle of it. If its tilted down, they say its a female clit cuz it should get smaller as baby gets bigger. At least we hope it does lol

    i didnt but they told my friend she was having a boy at 15 weeks and about 5 weeks ago they told her it was a girl....

    @mrsthompson34 it does kind of look tilted down. dr didnt want to give his opinion yet

    @nicksmommy uhoh!! sorry for your friend! I guess I would rather hear the true gender. but it bothers me, I just want to know!! :) very impatient about this

    here is a good look at the gender of both at that age hun. My cousin was supposed to be having a boy at 14 weeks with her nuchal scan, 22 week scan he was a she! She is now a healthy 3 year old girl, so nuchal scans and 3d scans are still unreliable that early :) I would wait until at least 18 weeks to be sure, but 20 is even better because they are fully formed down there at 20 weeks. :) best of luck hun!
