24 hour urine test

My doctor is making me collect my urine for 24 hours then getting a blood test afterwards. Has anyone had to do this? I'm 31weeks 5days. The nurse practicioner that saw me today had little info for me just that the Dr. Ordered it. I'm thinking there looking for toxiema maybe???

    No I guess my previous Dr mentioned doing it for some reason in my medical records.(I just moved and had yo change Dr.s at 28weeks)anyways today at my checkup my new Dr wasn't there and I saw the nurse practitioner who was pretty clueless about everything.

    Yes i had to do it at 20weeks thankfully it looked really good bc i had eclampsia with my 1stborn and never knew until i was blind and having seizures!! I also had to do it twice with my last pregnancy..its just to make sure theres not too much protein in you urine.

    Awwwe okay that's what I kinda thought thank you! :) I've had high blood pressure this whole pregnancy not super high but higher then normal.And strange weight gain/ loss due to swelling and water retention.

    Yep thats why they are watching you then..i have high blood pressure during pregnancy and alot of fluid retention and swelling i was totally surprised when they said it was fine..good luck with yours!!

    I had to do it but I switched doctors and. I told my new midwife about it and she ran my urine and says she thinks its cause my kidney is swollen from being prego.

    I had 24 hr urines with both of my pregnancies because of preeclampsia.

    I am currently doing that right now .. Have you had high blood pressure? Mine is checking for preclampsia

    Well I really hope I don't have preclampsia....what usually happens if you do?

    They normally end up having to deliver depending on the severity it may be within a couple days or they may just watch you very closely and probably bed rest

    @angieface i was on bedrest for a month. My daughter came early so i wasnt iinduced.

    I did one already. I have history of high blood pressure.

    Suggested the test to measure 24 hr total protein in ur urine to exclude risk of preeclampsia
