14w 4d and haven't heard hb yet....

edited April 2011 in Second Trimester
Just feeling a little scared. I got pregnant with an i.u.d. In and was told my pregnancy carried a higher chance of miscarriage. I am 14w4d and still haven't gotten a chance to hear this little persons heartbeat :-S my last appointment they tried to hear it but couldn't (i was 10 then). Any one else had to wait this long to hear the heartbeat?

  • Did they say they saw the heartbeat? Bc I've been hearing mine since 10 weeks, but I'm sure if it was a problem the doctor would've told you.

    Good luck.

  • They didn't do an ultrasound to see if they could see it?! When I was 10 weeks, we couldn't find it with just the doppler and they immediately did an ultrasound in office to find it, and they did.

I would let your doctor know you're concerned...that just isn't right if you ask me!
  • I have an appointment this week and i am trying not to stress! They only tried with a doppler. No offence to the doctor but she seemed really young and inexperienced (at least that's what i tell myself Haha)

  • I heard my baby's heartbeat at 7 weeks, that's a little odd that they still can't detect it. You might wanna go to a doctor or hospital and get an ultrasound?
  • I have had 4 ultrasounds and have seen the heartbeat on all. My Dr only tried with the doppler once and that was 3 weeks ago when I was 12 weeks, she wasn't able to pick up the sound.
  • With my first pregnancy, I had my first appt around 10 wks, doc couldn't find the heartbeat, I was to naive at the time to be worried. Went back 4 wks later baby had a strong heartbeat. I now have a heAlthy 4 year old girl.
  • My Dr couldn't find my baby's hb at 14wks with the Doppler but I have seen and heard the heartbeat at 6 weeks on the ultrasound. My baby was too deep for the doppler to pick up a heartbeat at 14 weeks I go back to the doctor thursday we will see if the baby is high enough to hear now
  • They barley found mine with 13 weeks and it was really faint.

  • It took until 16 weeks to hear my little beans HB. Try not to stress and request a quick US for some reassurance.
  • I heard mine at twelve weeks but that's when I finally had my first doc appt.
  • Have n e of u ladies at 14 weeks felt movement???
  • Supposedly I'm 15.1 weeks and I felt baby today for 1st time....but at my apt last week Dr thought I may not be that far along....might be a few days behind
  • Went to the Dr yesterday and the baby's hb was 165 and really strong :-) They even let me record it on my phone so now I have reassurance when I get scared. Thanks ladies for telling me to not worry - its just what i needed! Also, what do you mean when you say you've "seen" the heartbeat? Just on an ultrasound? Or do they have another tool i haven't seen before?
  • I'm 14 weeks 3 days they haven't even tried to hear the heart beat or get an u/s I'm frustrated lol cause I haven't felt pregnant most of the time with just random days of sickness but not many... I just really worried to walk in at 15 weeks and find out it has no heartbeat
  • I'm a little over 10 weeks and had my first appointment on Wed to hear the heartbeat and didn't hear one! My doctor told Me not to worry it could just be the way the baby is positioned. Newho I started to think if there is something wrong I wanna know, and not have to stress and wait four weeks! So I go back at 12 weeks to check for a heartbeat if I still don't hear one, I'm basically gonna demand for a ultra sound to ease my mind!
  • I heard it till 16 weeks :) u just provably hve to wait a little longer...
  • I saw mine at initial u/s at 7 weeks...had the nuchal yesterday Dr said i was 13weeks not 11w5days but i still haven't heard it. I asked my Dr office when they would do it. She promised me that my next appointment (14 weeks) they will put the doppler on.....she said its easier to find and hear after 12 weeks.
