Hip pain?

edited April 2011 in Third Trimester
I'm almost 36 weeks and I have this pain in my right hip area. Kind of right in the crease where my leg meets my hip. It's not a sharp pain but just sore. Honestly it kind of feels like I've been doing the splits. Lol. Is that normal?

  • MIne is left hip! Sore daily but kills after 8hrs. I've read it happens when our bodies relax and get ready for birth. I bought a prenatal hip cradle online, hoping it works!!
  • @jaime77- exactly. Lol. I can handle it in the morning but once the day is almost done it hurts like hell! I was hoping I didn't pull something. I hate feeling helpless so I still do some things around the house that I'm not really supposed to but I'm VERY careful about it.
  • I love my chiropractor, I get adjusted every 4 wks. Hope u feel better soon.
  • @jojom I get those too so I kno how u feel in between my legs and my hips feel crazy sometimes its hard for me to get out the bed. At times, I can hear clicking I kno it sounds crazy but yea LOL
  • I too go thru the hip pains. Mine feels like it will give out on me of I put too much pressure on it. Very painful. It last for the entire day so I can totally understand.
  • I had bad hip pain with my last 2 pregnancies. Still not sure what it was from. Mine was mostly at night tho. I hope u get some comfort soon. Good luck Mama.
  • I have major hip pain at nite I'm 20wks 2days y hip pain so early next doctor visit on 25th gotta tell doc about it.
  • @starreyski87-i heard clicking the other day! Lol I try to just roll myself out of bed some times so it doesn't hurt as much. Doesn't really work tho. Lol.

@bundledbeauties- mine almost gave out on me yesterday but I think the pain just caught me off guard. I've found that if I don't do too much then it's not nearly as bad which sucks cause I've got alot of things to do every day. Lol. My husband told me to ignore the chores and take it easy but theres just so much to do!! Lol
  • Mine has been hurting in what sounds like the same spot! I went to the chiroprator and it didn't really help but I have been having my bf massage it! It helps soooooooooo much! It makes the pain go away. What I do is kinda lay over the arm of the couch so my belly can hang down and my weight is on my low hips or upper thighs and then I have him rub what I have been calling my hipbutt lol. Good luck sometimes mine is so painful I don't even want to move! If you find any good tricks let me know. Oh there is a yoga stetch too. Sit on your sits bones (on your but with your back straight almost so your on your but bones) then fold your legs both off to one side and try to push your knees to the floor. Then as much as you can (its hard with the belly) lean forward you should feel a stretch in the hips! Good luck hope it helps
  • I asked my doc about this...he said it was bacause i sleep on my sides now. I used to sleep on my stomache before i was preggers. Anyway, with the widening of our hips and sleeping on our sides may cause misalignment. He told me to take a few tylenol b4 bed...
  • Thanks @steeny! I'm gonna try that yoga stretch.

@bayoumamma- that makes sense really. Lol. I never thot of it like that. I've been sleeping in my sides too. Tylenol here I come! Haha.
  • @jojom I kno what u mean everyone tells me to take it easy nut it is always something to do. Lol. I pray it doesn't hinder us from performing normal tasks. Lol
  • @bundledbeauties- my husband already gets mad at me when he thinks I do too much. Lol.
  • I have the same pain and my doc said that its because your body produces hormones to loosen up your joints for baby to pass through. Not sure if that's what's happening to you. I would always check with a doc no matter what! Good luck!
  • @jojom I read up on it the info I read was it the pelvic bone is adjusting for the baby ligaments are loosening.
  • @starreyski87- bleh. It's somewhat painful. I'm laying here at 12:30 at night awake cause it hurts and I can't sleep. :( and I'm soooo tired. This is the part of pregnancy I'm not gonna miss lol.
  • I have my right hip that by the way is killing ME on a heating pad and boy is it helping right now ;) u should give it a try....
  • @texasmom3-ya know, I didn't even think about using the heating pad until you said something. I feel like a moron. Lol. I've got it on my hip now. Thanks for the tip. :) working great.
  • Np :) its been helping with the soreness
