army base clinics

edited April 2011 in Health
I go to a clinic on fort Bragg and last time I went they wanted me to do my glucose test if I had not eaten in three hours. Of course I just had some food. They told me I needed to go to the lab and get it done. Does that mean I can just go whenever I can? Im sick of calling these people they treat me like a moron since im a new military wife and I end up getting nowhere except aggravated.

  • Yep go when works for you they should of been orders for it put in
  • Yep just go when you feel like it! Thats what I always do!
  • I worked on bragg for a couple years. Call tricare tell them you need an off-post ob because there is a conflict of interest at womac. they are usually reluctant but push it and they will break. They always do.
  • Yeah u can just go. If they called you it means its in the system so just show up to the lab when its covient for you
  • OOh yay. thank you ladies!!! They didn't tell me anything and just getting an appt was a hassle. On top of all that they always call my husband instead of me!!! But thanks :)
  • Go civilian don't go military my opinion
  • @jstnshrt my husband said the same thing. He heard some horror stories apparently. But everything is so far from here its more convienant for the both of us on base.
  • I have heard tons of bad stories too
  • I'm seen on-post @ Ft Campbell and couldn't be happier with my care. MTF's are always a hit or miss
  • @Sgt_Hales_Babies I get seen really fast and I like how my id gets everything done a lot faster, but getting my appts set up and only speaking to one person instead of 50 never happens. They really look at me like I have 18 heads when I ask what to do. Lol. Hopefully it'll be better in Georgia :)
  • Yeah...they can be douches sometimes. We're PCSing to Germany on the 26th, so my little one will be born in a German hospital. Do you have a new parent support program there? It's usually through ACS and they can help a lot with helping you get used to everything and showing you the ropes. FRG is a good group too that can help you get a better grasp on post life.

  • I am seen on base at Nellis and I to couldnt be happier! I love my AF doc...and I actually have an OB nurse that I have a direct phone number to! So I can ask my nurse a question whenever I have them! Super Super helpful!!
  • @Sgt_Hales_Babies oh wow Germany!!! That's so cool. Well I think so anyway lol. Idk id have to ask my hubby I dont know anyone yet :( but they definitely sound like groups I need to find out about!!! Thanks :D
  • @mandiixmayhem You're welcome! I remember what it was like to be the new army wife when we got married 5 yrs ago. And I wasn't pregnant, I couldn't imagine the stress of so much @ once! You can also see if there are any local mommy groups, that way you can meet new friends and get some great info @ the same time!
  • Deff get involved with ur FRG they keep ya up todate on what's going on and can help if they r a good one myn is awsome we were doing get togethres just to have them lol pluse when ur hubby deploys there a great support system sence they r going throw the same thing you are good luck with the mtf I hate them lol
  • Should I just wait till we get to the new base to get involved? I don't wanna meet new people then leave and do it all over. Yeah he was supposed to deploy next feb but we reenlisted and put in for a transfer so he wont leave so soon. He just got home in august and they want him to go out again!!!! He really wants me to get involved with the other wives :)
  • When do u move? If its real soon id wait
