Any Godly parents out there?

edited April 2011 in Pregnant
So I'm realizing now a days God is being left out of parenting and schools. I was just wondering if there are any others out there that want their children to grow up to love and be good servants to God. Sorry just feeling alone with this.

  • I'm afraid to comment on anything today, but here goes...sigh

I am God fearing and raise my children as such, however, due to so many different religions, I don't feel it should be in schools due to offending many families. If you want ur child to learn prayer and such, u should teach it at home or send them to a private school. God holds the parents responsible for their child's spiritual welfare :)
  • I honestly wish I had a mom who took us to church.
  • I have mixed emotions....I'm a Christian but I'm personally working on my relationship with God.

I plan on putting my child in Christian schools and raising in church with my same morals and values I was raised with. BUT I will not force my beliefs on him bc I feel that will only force him to stray(what happend to me.)
  • Ur not alone. I want my son raised with Christian values n since God is left out of public school, we'll be paying that very high private school tuition.
  • We r christian and teach our children the same. God is good! :)
  • Me! I LOVE JESUS.. I believe he will be coming back for his people really soon. I raise my youngins in church and I want them to know God.and have a relationship with him. The bible tells of whats to come.and we sure dont want to be around for it.
  • I'm just happy I'm not alone. And yes God holds the parents responsible for their children. You are all very blessed to have God in your life.@newmommy_navywife I think we are all working on our relationship with God mines not perfect but I love him and always want to get closer to him. Thank you to all of you.

    Welcome, love! And thank you.
  • Me too but I'm catholic i just ray that my kids are good lol
  • Me! God is Great! He blessed me with this baby, and I will raise my baby to serve him!
  • I too am Christian and love my Lord Jesus. I feel prayer should be back in schools and every ehere else its been taken out. Ever since that has happen things have gone down hill in our school systems and with our courts. I agree that we as parents are accountable for our children and it is our jobs to raise them accordingly, but when they can't go to school and pray or read their bibles without saying that its not allowed is not what God intended. It is unfortunate, but also it is the signs of the times and JEsus is coming back for those who are saved and born again. So people get ready cause Jesus is coming! We have to be careful of what we say and what we teach our children because after all they are not our, but His to take care of. And we will be held accountable for our actions in our own l,ife as well as our childrens too. I am so thankful to Him for blessing me and my husband with all of 6 soon to be 7 kids and I am enjoying every moment I have with them, since they grow up way too fast. Anyone watch on TLC 19 Kids and Counting? I love that show and they always inspire me. They are awesome parents adn I love the way they raise their children. Not everyone agrees with their ways, but look at how respectful they are, well behaved and how they love the Lord. THey are a great example of how we should live whether or not you agree with the amount of kids they have, but I would have as many as God would allow me too, if that was 10 or 20 then so be it. I love being a mom. I thank God for making a me a mommy many times over. I am being fruitful and multiplying, lol. :)
  • My baby was a true miracle from God.. the Drs told me it was really hard for me to have babies but my faith never died.. I'm only 19 but I've been married for a while.. this is our first baby & I can't wait to teach my child about how great our God is :)
  • Our children are raised in church and we are lucky that our schools don't punish them for praying or reading their Bibles in school. We can't afford private school tuition but I don't think I would put them in one if we could. Nothing makes me more proud than when one of my babies come home and tell me how they prayed with a non believer and have invited them to church. Going to public schools teaches them what life will be like in the real world...I can't guarantee that they will work in a Christian based job when they're adults, so this will help them be around all walks of life. I love that they talk to God like he's their best friend and that they know they can count on him!!!
  • Omg I felt I was alone here I felt like I was the only one who believe in god & belief! God is great :-bd
  • I have been scared, which I know is wrong, to approach this subject. I am not afraid to tell anyone about my heavenly Father...but you gotta admit on this site it is scary to say anything ;-)
  • I believe in God. My mom switched religions every chance she got and forced us to go to church which I hated. I do not believe in religion but my kids know that there is a God and pray regularly. We do not force religion on our kids but they learn from their grandparents and know that if they want to go to church they have that choice. I think its good that its not in public schools, there are too many religions to pick from to teach to many different kids. But I also think its great that there are schools available for parents who want that for their kids
  • Praise the Lord I was afraid at first to post this as well but it is part of being pregnant and raising your children. I am so happy that their is so much faith here and welcome all of you to share your experiences with God with me. I love to hear how he works in others lives. I was not raised in a Christian home, but took the time to get to know Jesus and praise him for what he has and hasn't given. God Bless everyone.
  • I like this post:) thank you for this.I was raised in a christian home but did stray in my teenage years. Thankfully I always had jesus in my heart and knew right from wrong. So it was easy for me to come back. I will definitely raise my children the same, and as they get older I will not force anything on them, but they will have it in their roots. & I will pray for them everyday. It is sad what is happening in the world today, from the big things to the little things. And people wonder why things are as they are... and getting worse. I mean taking 'in one nation under god' out of the pledge of allegiance?! Its just crazy. America has been such a strong country because of god. 'In god we trust' is on our money for goodness sakes. Take god out of the picture & we are doomed.
  • Oh me me me!!! Im a Christian and have no problem saying so. My baby girl is also a miracle Baby and thank Him for her everyday. :-D I know we arent perfect and our kids will also make mistakes one day (even if I think sometimes that when she comes out, she could do no wrong lol) but I truly believe "train your children up the way they should go and when they are old, they will not depart from it" proverbs 22:6 :-bd I'm almost 23 and this is my first. Woop Woop
  • I'm happy to see this :) don't ever be ashamed to express your faith god is good :)
  • Yes I too was and still is raised in the christian home and church I did to stray in my teens too but the gifts and calling never leave you yes I was forced to church never hated due to the worlds chaoz but I love the lord and I love jesus I also will raise my kids to be belivers the best gift my parents ever gave me was free salvation and being a pastor child isn't easy nor is it hard but its by faith and gods grace and mercy I see everyday and have another chance I was too scared seeing is how there so judgemental on this site but god knows and he cares and love each and every one of us god bless and be inspired beautiful women
  • Ps babycomingsoon143 before my popa passed he broke down that passage for me when you train up your children u instill god abd the right choice for there lives when the grow up the choose themseleves as it say( when they go) which path too take the never forget what u taught them and god never leaves them he always there they nevr departed from him that got there own lesson to go threw but you gave them the fight sword to make it threw just sharing with you
  • Sorry for type os skype touchscreen acting werid
  • I am a Christ follower too. My husband and I go to a fabulous church and take our daughter (and any other children we have). I certainly plan on teaching her (and others) how to listen to and follow the Lord. He dramatically changed my life from being extremely lost, alcoholic, and pagan. I have truly had joy given to me since He forgave me and redeemed my life.
As for prayer in schools...I plan on homeschooling. I was a teacher before I became a stay at home mom and I tutor now. So I figure who better to receive instruction from my training than my family. Im extremely excited to have had a positive impact for Christ with the families I tutor. There are many students from our church who have had a dynamic impact on our local school system because they have prayed for favor with their classmates and teachers. Honestly whole families have come to know him because of their private and public prayer and living a life being guided by Jesus. My family loves the church we go to!!
@melinda326- I Love the Duggar family. I actually got to meet them this year. I honestly don't know how Michelle and Jon Bob do it...I'm amazed at her vast patience and think its a miracle that she doesn't raise her voice!! I'm really happy that baby Josie is finally out of the hospital and doing better.
  • Yes ma'am! We are believers in our house! God is good and we thank him for all things! And we intend to bring up our children that way although I'll never force our child to do/believe anything. Its a choice for us, and it'll be a choice for our child, but he/she will be raised with an understanding of the love and the power of Jesus, the God we serve.
  • @blissmarie23 I agree with you completely. I homeschool too. And yes Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar are amazing parents. How blessed you are to have met them. I would love to. I sent them a Christmas card last year. They give me such inspiration and excellent ideas in help raising godly children. God is awesome and I am so thankful to live in a country that I can freely serve God and worship him.
  • All I can say is Amen!
  • My oldest is 2 and we have started "scrip" for sending him to private school. It's a program our church and some stores offer where we buy gift cards through the.church and a portion of it goes into an account for the tuition costs and part goes to the church (and the rest goes to the store). I would highly suggest talking to your pastor/schools principle for any one looking at sending their kids privately. I was raised in a Christian household but we didn't attend church regularly...part of it was not having a church we felt welcome/enjoyed. I love this post-all too often it feels like Christians are a minority bc too many are afraid to speak out. I want my kids to be "loud and proud" Christians...just hope they don't have a lack of friends in school bc of it (I did).
Cinnabon...I mostly agree w u, but I disagree w the fact that in science class u learn about half the ideas of how earth/ppl came to be...I think the idea that a "higher being" created the earth and all creation should b offered as an option...that way you aren't discriminating against some religions by giving a name...just that there may be something/someone higher out there.
God bless you ladies and your families...hopefully more of America will notice the void our country needs is God!
