I need advice (*nothing to do with being pregnant*)

edited April 2011 in Health
I hurt myself at work in January and started receiving workmans comp. While receiving the workmans comp I started having really bad experiences with my manager, even while I was out of work she kept basically trying to put a rush on my medical care to get me back into work. Eventually I went back and was placed on light duty. I was constantly being harrassed by my manager because she wanted me to do things that werent a part of my "light duty". I ended up quitting the job because of all the stress and issues I was having with my pregnancy. I missed one of the workmans comp appointments and I received a letter in the mail I guess yesterday saying that they were denying my claim because I failed to communicate with them and missed my doctors appointment. I guess I didn't go because my injury felt better, but I was more worried about my drama filled pregnancy, then too I just wanted to leave the job and everything that came with it behind me...... I'm just worried that they are going to try to make me repay them for the care that I received??? Everyone is saying no because I was hurt and they had to pay for the doctors visits that I attended, but I'm unsure and pretty aggravated at this point ~X( . I just dont want to deal with anything involving that job anymore....If anyone knows please help?!

  • I think they will request the money back from the doctors that they have paid which will leave u holding the bag for the bills
  • Lol yea I feel u on that one.. jst donT call me or send nothing No MORE "...HELL I would of told dem dat ..n thx yah 4da help lol haha funny .....u would of got more if u sued n quit lol...
  • @Babyluv11.....I dont want anything from them...Im just glad that Im free from that place....It was horrible there #:-s
  • @Peaches80...I dont understand how.... I got hurt on their property so its their responsibility to take care of my doctores fees....You break you buy!!!
  • It depends they could go after you for the money I would contact them explain the situation and make another doctor appointment. When you go explain to the doctor that you are feeling better if you are. It really depends on the company you worked for and their work comp adjuster on whether or not they'll deny the bills from the doctors.
  • No they can't make u pay I been thru it all they just don't help anymore will in texas they don't
  • Ok I hurt myself at work was out on workers comp for about two months before I went back to work on light duty. My manager had me work so hard the first day back that I took a whole bottle of pain pills. When I went in to complain about this sint light duty they sent me home telling me there is no such thing as light duty here. Well I called workers comp to tell them that because if they can't work you under what the doctor says you are able to do (and if they violated doctors orders they can get in trouble). When I called workmans comp I found out my employer told them I never returned to work when I got reoeased to work so workes comp dropped me. I ended up suing because I could prove I had been to work but that is my case. If you get hurt at work workmans comp is required to pay for your doctors visits until such time that there is nothing that can be done or you are better. You don't have to pay them back and if I get hurt again workmans comp has to help me again unless it is for the same injury. So if you didn't go to your doctors appointment they can drop you for not jumpng through their hoops but they wont make you pay it back
  • @Jess510...I guess that could save me from paying thousands back to them....Ughhhh when will this nightmare end ?!
  • @KalikoJenie....Thanks....that brings some relief, but with my luck, I can only expect the worse.....at the bottom of the form, it has a message to the insurance carrier saying that they must provide a detailed statement of why I was terminated and claims where payments were previously made to the doctor.. is this to benefit them just in case I try to sue them for denying me or is this for them to make my life a living hell?
  • Thx ladies
  • Well if you were terminated because you couldn't work then you can sue them so they would want to know why you were terminated, if you were terminated because you cursed ur boss out then they don't have to worry about lawsuits. It also helps them to decide if they need to pay your workers comp wages or not. Like if they fired you workers comp would be required to offer you a settlement to cover some expenses of doctors visits and perscriptions as well as for some money to live off of. If you never went to the doctors after you left work then you are absolutely not required to pay anything back, but it is also a way of you denying further treatment so if you start feeling pain again from the same injury you are on your own.
  • Even tho u quit ur job you were still entitled to doctors visits and pain meds (not the checks for not working).
