  • That's insane! id 4sure buy it! My hubby is always talkn about "wonder wat he looks like right now?" Lol
  • Hell yeah I would buy it! I was actually thinking of how cool it would be to be able to see the baby:D idk how I would afford something like that tho haha
  • I would never get anything done! Lol
  • I would buy it just to see what part of her body she keeps cramming into my hip. Everytime we go for an ultrasound she moves out, but once home she's right back in there!
  • Omg that is so neat. I would so buy it.
  • soooo... I'm confused is i actually an ultrasound machine u wear on your belly? u actually see YOUR baby or is it an animation of what baby might be doing?
  • @Babyboyontheway I dont see how it could be an ultrasound machine. Thats a lot of radiation going to the baby, can't be good
  • no thats kind of creapy!
  • That's insane!! How cool!! I bet by the time I'm a grandparent they'll have all kinds of stuff like that Lol
  • @babyboyontheway its just a project...its not out...u cant buy this...did u read the article?! Im suee if they were to actually invent 1, it would have 2 be approved by some sort of government ppl...dept of health maybe?! Its just an idea for now...& im sure they would make it to where its safe enough for u to wear it...i love that idea...we would be able to see our baby whenever we wanted to!!! :) & btw, arent u/s's safe?! Doesnt the radiation that it gives off not harm ur baby?!
  • @librababii I'm not positive but i think that that much radiation would/could be harmful. It would be continuous, where as a dr appointment US is just a little bit and only for a couple minutes. There's some debate (as is with everything lol) that ultrasound radiation is harmful, and shouldn't be done more than medically necessary. But we only get one a month for most the pregnancy, then when its twice a month than every week its not as harmful because baby is more developed and risks for a lot of things go down. But like i said I'm not 100%. I'm actually intrigued now and I'm gnna look up ultrasound radiation on google lol. But ur right, it is a pretty neat idea and would be AWESOME if we could see our growing babies all the time :)
  • omggg i want one!!!! lol
  • @Jaime77 exactly!! hahaha- that is nuts! my husband always says he wishes there was a port hole on my stomach so he could see what she is doing since he can't feel her yet lol
  • Ultrasounds are not radiation, it is sound waves.
  • @mommyinwaiting I had to google that-that made perfect sense to me lol-and this is what I got:
Ultrasound imaging, also called ultrasound scanning or sonography, involves exposing part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Ultrasound exams do not use ionizing radiation (as used in x-rays). Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can show the structure and movement of the body's internal organs, as well as blood flowing through blood vessels.
  • There was someone earlier in the discussion talking about radiation, so I thought I would clear that up. Thank you, that's excellent info
  • Actually @mommyinwaiting is right i was just reading some articles and they all say the same thing. Its x rays that use radiation and i have heard that places like dental offices won't do x rays while pregnant. Ultrasounds are in real time and use sound waves. So i wonder how this belt thingy would work ?
  • Lol akmommy got to it first. But its good info espicially for people like me who had it confused :) good topic!
  • The belt thingy would be spendy, but soooo much fun! Being a nurse myself, I think I would have to pay the price and get it!
  • @mommyinwaiting as soon as I read what you wrote it made perfect sense being that it called an ultraSOUND hahaha- made me too curious not to look it up @babyboyontheway I'm SUPER bored lol!
  • @AKmommy ha i never even connected those dots (ULTRASOUND ) and i had o look it up too im beyond bored at work tonight and I'm not off till 7am!! Long night ahead of me :/
  • @babyboyontheway I had never thought of it that way either lol, and if it makes you feel any better I get to go at the same time you are off lol
  • @AKmommy r u working tonight also? Its super hard for me as I'm soon tired espicially these days being 31-32 weeks how far r u?
  • @babyboyontheway nope I'm going to work when you get off lol I'm only 22 weeks and I'm always tired but I'm sure you're feeling it more than me thats for sure lol

  • thank you, guys!!! :) i knew i had read somewhere that it wasnt hazardous...so yes, I WOULD SOOOO GET 1!!!! thats the thing, if we were to get one, we would just make sure not 2 abuse it...how cool would it be 2 be able 2 see ur baby in ur own home with family & friends...when he's in a certain spot that bothers u, you can put that sucker on 2 see what he's doing in there...i think its an awesome idea...& remember, thats just what it is right now, an 'idea'...im sure it would cost in the thousands if it were 2 go up 4 sale...but the fun & experience would be PRiCELESS!!!! <3
here's an excerpt from an article i found:

    'Is Prenatal Ultrasound Safe?

Studies have shown ultrasound is not hazardous. There are no harmful side effects to you or your baby. In addition, ultrasound does not use radiation, as X-ray tests do.'
