Trouble getting comfortable at night to sleep.

edited April 2011 in November 2011
I'm 7 weeks prego and the past 4 weeks I can't sleep on my tummy no more, breast are so tender. First pregnancy so getting used to the stuff I can't do anymore. Like losing sleep at night due to potty breaks :)

  • It will let up for a few weeks. I'm 16 weeks and at 5-8 weeks I had so much trouble sleeping; I was restless and my body was tired but I just couldn't sleep...my boobs were swollen and I couldn't lay on them. Then it let up to sleeping enough but so so tired. Now it hurts to be on my tummy because of cramps and such and I'm not sleeping because I'm overheated... lol
  • Lol I wake up in the middle night hungry or hot lately. I miss my sleep. I heard it gets better in 2nd trimester. I'm having a little gas that's uncomfortable. Did that happen to you?
  • Don't mean to lol but hun, it never gets easier ;) I go from sofa, to bed, toss left to right..make a fort of pillows. Wake with back pain, ect..sleeping 3hrs straight is a blessing!! I miss my face first into pillow comas!!
  • Try a pregnancy pillow. Yes this early, they work. They are expensive but I think a good night's sleep is worth it!

  • I can't sleep anymore either. I'm about 8 weeks and my hubby bought me a pregnancy pillow. It has helped some but I'm still constantly uncomfortable. And I get leg and arm spasms whenever I try to fall asleep. Anyone else have that problem?
  • I prop my pillows so I'm practically on my tummy, but hitched up on one side so there's no pressure. It gets me to sleep, but I can't stay asleep to save my life. Restless, twitchy legs wake me up. I toss and turn. I snore myself awake from all this congestion I can't prevent with Allegra. And it's taking longer and longer to fall back asleep. It's fairly miserable.
  • Only 7 weeks here, and im a tummy sleeper! I still sleep on it, bc i like the pressure on my boobs, makes them feel better, but my lower back is killing me, and i get a stuffy nose now, and i toss and turn as well too. So im right there with you ladies as well.
  • Awww I would like to tell you it'll get better but I'm 38wks and its never gotten any easier since its started : ( jus something you gotta deal with till you meet your bundle of joy
  • I'm 20 wks sleep is my enemy now I really need it back ugh I wish I cud b getting all my sleep so wen my babii girl. Arrive I know I want sleep much but it has already started
  • well itoss and turn all night && awake with back pain but can easily take a nap during the day in which iyawn and feel tired all day
  • It does not get easier ladies!! I am 21 wks prego and I am not getting any sleep!. I suggest if its easy napping on the couch then sleep there at night it helped me some until I got too big to sleep there now I'm back on my bed with my body pillow. It takes me a while to fall asleep and stay asleep but hey.. that's what being prego means! Ugh.. no more sleep until baby sleeps through the night!!
  • Yea same with me! Im 11 weeks and i can't fall asleep to save my life! Ill be up till like 3am tossing and turning and then i wake up at 7 or 8 to pee and im up for the day :( i can fall asleep on the couch tho when i take a nap during the day. Its just frustrating tho cause at night ill be yawning and tired and as soon as i get in my bed its like i wake right up :(
  • Omg I have all the same problems im even soo close to just buying a new bed lol when I first found out my boobs were so swollen that if someone just brushed up against them I flipped out on them, so it didn't make it easy to sleep expecially because im a size DD to begin with... I slept on the couch most nights and would wake up for a pee break and go into my bed that's the only way I could sleep in there. I definately still don't get the sleep I need and it takes me about an hour to fall asleep but its getting better week by week...
  • Like some ladies say....I easily fall asleep on the couch, but when it comes to the bed it takes a while. Always wake up to pee, then when its time to wake up I'm so hungry. I'm having those hunger pains and if I don't eat soon enough that's when the nausea comes back. I'm 9 weeks today and I must say my emotions are out of whack and before this I never cried, nor let anything get to me. Crazy pregnant hormones :)
  • Im 37+ wks & cant sleep for nothing between peeing hip pains & leg cramps I just give up screw it im getting in practice fir all those sleepless nights to come
  • @may1mommatobe.... not to much longer before your baby is here. What are you having?
  • I'm 18 weeks and I sleep just fine except when I'm constantly getting up to pee and when I'm hungry. My first trimester was terrible. The second trimester does get better for some people though. Everyone is different so you just never know. I'm enjoying my pregnancy now but I'm sure it's going to get rough again at the end! Good luck!! :-)
  • @novmom2be im having a boy <):)
  • Sleep?! I forget what that's like at this point! Ugh.
