does anyones bf/hubby know about cars?

So everything seems to be falling apart :( I have a problem with the only transportation I have. The car died so we jumped it and now it wont start. When we try it tries but it just really clicks loudly and the interior lights flicker but the head lights stay on. The radio works also. Could it be the battery?

I'm freaking out I'm 37 weeks prego and have an appt in the morning and I don't know my way around the area and don't know anyone. I just want to cry

    It doesn't sound like the starter cause its really trying to kick over. Oh also when it was in idol it sometimes jumps.

    Its been on for over a year. Its my sisters car. The battery light keeps coming on also.

    Try alternator. Take it to get tested its done for free and if that's it if you give the old one back when You buy a new one they typically give a discount. Also bang on your starter sometimes that works. Try taking your battery in to get tested too
    Let me know if you still need help I've been working on my own cars for awhile. Im Not a genius but I know basics

    Oh check battery cables could be lose or dirty corroded even. May need new wires. Start with the cheap stuff like testing things. Might be an all day project so make a man help you.

    Alternator my husband said he said those cars also have trouble with the egr valves while idleing and samanthas right if the check engine lights on the check that for free to at auto zone

    @Samantha lol where is the starter? Can spark plugs do this?

    I was also going to say alternator. I've had mine go out a few times and that what it sounds like to me.

    AAutozone said the engine light could be because of the spark plug wiring. My sister doesn't maintain her vehicle.

    Oh while we are on the subject..... my car when I drive has trouble shifting sometimes. Its an automatic 2000 Mazda 626

    Hmmm Idk where at on those cars but you would have to crawl under the car. Ask a Guy to find it or Google It. Idk if you Have a book on the car or not but then hit it kinda hard not full force but a couple Good taps with a decent size rock outta do it.

    Engine light could be a million reasons typically electrical and nothing to worry bout. Your double shifting sounds like a transmission.

    Yea I took it in and the Guy said cylinder in the transmission. Sucks cause its 500 to fix but I'm saving

    Do you have enough tranny fluid. Could just need new plugs and wires. Basic tune up. I don't know much about mazadas though.

    I don't know. Its been sitting for a year with gas in it but autozone told me to go get some stuff to thin the gas before starting it. It be nice if my car just needed something simple

    You haven't drove Your car in a year? The car needs to be started every few weeks fluids can't Just sit. You could always run a cleaner through It pretty cheap at places it cleans your fuel injectors always good for a car anyways.

    I don't think it needs a thinner atleast I've never heard of it however I would put Some new gas In It. Not a lot but a little. And a fuel injector cleaner.

    Yea its a 3/4 full tank. The autozone Guy said my gas is thick probably. I couldn't drive it cause of the shifting issue. But I will try the fuel injector :)

    Ya I wouldn't You don't wanna make it worse but starting It and letting it run is good for It. Not letting it run will cause problems.

    I would say maybe its your alternator...I don't know much about cars but that's what my man does and in my own personal experience I had something very similar happen. I think I had to get my alternator and battery fixed/ replaced because I let the problem drag out too long. God Bless xoxo
