I would really love a super lavish wedding but id rather spoil my sweet angels and save for their schooling instead. • well im not married but my sister is making me get fitted for my bridesmaid dress on sunday ill be 29 weeks along i could beat her.
  • We got married on the beach at sunset in the mayan riviera. The entire wedding ended up costing less than $ 5000. We had a reception on a terrace overlooking this pond with floating candles lit up in it. We had only 22 guests. My grandparents couldn't make it there so we had our "official" legal wedding back home before we left... Also did the courthouse thing... and I gotta say it was more meaningful. Both hubby and I were crying for that one, but the one in mexico we could just let loose and have fun because by then we were already married :)
  • Ours was going to be a court room wedding but our moms found out. I told them they had one week to plan it and keep the budget under 2500. (I wanted my wedding to be on Oct 31). Well they did it, we held the wedding at a friends house and it was beautiful weather for colorado and we had it outside in the mountains (I lived up in the mountains in co near evergreen). My mother in law did all the cooking, we got the decorations from Michaels, our cake and flowers from Kings Soopers (a local grocery store) which they were awesome in getting it all done and working with us short notice and I got my dress and shoes from JCPenny. The judge who we were friends with came to our location free of charge and preformed the ceremony. In the end my wedding cost a little over 1600. I stayed under the budget and had a beautiful small cervice with some clpse friends and family.
  • me and my husband were going to do a big wedding then i got stressed and said f it! and we went to the court house the family wasnt happy but we didnt care! the colors were going to hot pink, black and silver/white!
  • I'm getting married next month! May 14th in vegas, a small intimate ceremony with just my parents & sister there. I can't wait! :) i'll be 27 weeks prego then, yikes! But can't wait for my hubby to officially be my husband :X Congrats!!!
  • I'm not married but I love how my cousin did her wedding...she had her minister come out to my aunts house and had her mom dad brother n grandparents as did her hobby and there was no flowers or anything just a beautiful summer day...they had their reception a year later (he is in the air force and was being sent to basic) I just love small simple intimate weddings that's what I want whenever my boyfriend finally asks me! My other cousin also got a log cabin style place and had the wedding and reception all in one, she just had the justice of peace out took 15 min all our family pitched in at both weddings to make the food they had pork loins, mac n cheese, baked beans, n mashed potatoes which saved a lot on catering!
  • **hubby :-p
  • We got married in a gazebo in this park in St Joseph Mo...it was surrounded by roses. My MIL and SIL did all the planning there as we live in another town. My mom paid for my wedding dress, and my daughter and neices flower girl dresses. My step dad paid for all the flowers, hotels, and part of the reception food. We went super cheap as we had one kiddo, and was preggo with #2. It was beautiful and very meaningful. I don't think that you have to spend a huge amount on a wedding. It is one day that you can make amazing memories of no matter the cost...and without a huge bill to pay! Good luck and congratulations!!!
  • @Rissalee7 tell the seamstress to be certain to leave room for movement and growth lol good luck

@Tammikins that sounds like it was terrific and $5000 that's a very sweet deal

@Littlefae you're my hero! I was going to have a wedding till we found out we were expecting mostly because I'm the eldest and my moth is a pain in the ass lol I really only planned on about 50 guests but a lavish quaint wedding. But I'm happy just becoming mrs mancini then an intimate dinner with our closest fam will be perfect! :)

@Proudmommy8789 I feel you I was planning for a couple months before we found out we were expecting and I was going bat shit crazy so I'm also tickled to take the load off lol

@mommyof2naugust ... congrats congrats that's my sons birthday he'll be four and its always a beautiful day so I'm sure it will be perfect. And vegas woot woot bring home the money!

@ARand89 that sound very memorable I can see why you enjoyed it so much it sounds like it was very romantic!

Thank you for sharing your storys it was very sweet of you all!
  • We got married in a barn on a sod farm that was made for weddings and events. We had a country Christmas theme. Complete with Santa and Mrs.Claus. everything ended up costing about $17,000.
  • @mommyo3soon2b4 first congrats on baby number four that's amazing and you've got to be super mommy! I agree a wedding can be done tastefully and full of meaning with a tight budget but I think I may just save for a short sweet honeymoon even if its just a wknd at a bed n breakfast something romantic for just he and I. I can't wait either way
  • @OctMommy I was born mid dec so I love love love the winter wonderland theme
  • @stormyparadise I think a little honeymoon is a great idea. We didn't get to have one, but have the past few years been able to take a weekend trip to St. Louis for a Mom and Dad get away!
And I don't know about super mommy...but I love my life. God has truly blessed me with an amazing hubby and 3 beautiful kids! We can't wait to meet our little Jellybean!
  • I had a very simple wedding in my grandmother's back yard.. My mom planned it all we had a simple yet beautiful set up everything blue and white we had about 75 guests since it was put togther in a matter of two weeks...it ended up being so memorable and this yr we will be married 15 years not bad for only knowing my husband for 2wks b4 we said I do...
  • Mine wasn't lavish either.. we paid extra to have the lady come to a park. Do that if you can. :)
  • My husband I had both been married before and decided that for this one we wanted something fun and unexpected. So we flew our immediate family, a few close friends, and our favorite Vegas photographers down to Cabo San Lucas Mexico! We did the wedding on the beach. Our colors were green and pink and had green orchids and hot pink roses! After the beautiful ceremony and pics we all had dinner on the balcony of our favorite restaurant there. We decided on a 8 course food tasting with wine pairing! After the ceremony day we spent the rest of the weekend with the family snorkeling and kayaking and drinking our share of margaritas! Our family left on Sunday and we stayed another week for our honeymoon! It was awesome! ...we spent a pretty penny but...it was all worth it! You can check out a few of the pics on our photographers blog...

  • @Mommyoffive before I met my fiance I've got to say I wasn't a big fan of marriage I was engaged prior to him and called it off after four years of indiscretions on his behalf... soooo I had lost all faith. With my now fiance I'm taking a leap of faith, I knew him casually in the mid 90's but we were pre teens and I was very shy and timid whereas he was not. We met again in sept 7 2010 and we've been inseperable since. Now I have a son from that previous relationship but he is not in the picture at all, my steven has adopted my son as his own and we are expecting our first together! With all that said I'm super excited to read about you romance its truly inspiring... I hope to have such a sucessful marriage and a large lovely family as well! Thank you for sharing :)

@Legg2011 that's a great idea I will def look into it, hopefully there's no snow lol
  • We had an awesome fall wedding and honeymooned in Venice. Budget was $20,000 for the wedding and $5k for the trip. Had about 115 guests.
  • @ashley_smashley WOW that sounds awe inspiring, I'm def going to check out those photos... it sounds perfect and intimate ;) and its sounds like it was a blast!!
  • @stormyparadise it was perfect and fun! And my younger sisters said it was the best vacation they had ever had lol!
  • @bluberrysmom Venice... i'd love to visit... my hubby is italian so it would me the world to him, not to mention m'm m'm food delish!
  • @stormyparadise im so upset i have to be fitted at 7 months prego the wedding isnt until october im due july second couldnt i order the dress end of july
  • Yeah, I ate and drank my way through the city. We were there for ten days and the food was soooooo good! Oh, and the wine! We're gong to Barcelona on Monday and I'm devastated that I can't drink. Gonna easy like a pig, though!
  • @blueberrysmom ... you sound like a blast I could have gotten in a whirl of trouble with you in my single days lol and pre mommy days of course
  • @Rissalee7 oh wow... I know you could def order online, its a bit strange for you to absolutely have to... I sure if you know the dress you have to be in then the alterations could technically be done about a week before the event... good luck sweetheart
  • @stormyparadise ya i tried telling her that but the book she has says she has to have the dresses ordered 6 months ahead of time. i called davids bridal and they told me two months b4 the wedding which included alterations
  • @ashley_smashley omfg you are absolutely breath taking wow
  • @Rissalee7 love if you have to pay for it she should let you go ahead and order it yourslef.
