how sollen is too swollen..?

edited April 2011 in Third Trimester
I know iv posted about this before, but I just took my shoes and socks to get ready for bed & my legs and feet are HUGE, like my leg goes straight down, like I have no ankel just huge elephent feet. And I know around this time (I'm 35 weeks preg.) Swelling is common. And I need to drink lots of water & elevate me feet. But I can't keep my feet up all day because of my job, my boss actually yells at me for sitting down, I work at a daycare. And iv been drinking water, probably not enough. But iv cut back on soda and salty stuff.

Could my doctor put me on bed rest because of swelling? Is it a health risk if I well too much??

  • I had that kind of swelling and taking a shower made my feet HURT because of the warm water. They never did anything for me but I felt like they should have. It was also military doctors and they didn't even do urine tests each appointment.
  • I'm just nervous cuz I feel swollen everywhere elce. Like the other day, I could barely make a fist, my hands wouldn't close cuz they were swollen. And the vains in my hands have popped out. There will be no struggle to get an iv in my arm lol.
  • I would go and talk to your doctor, if nothing else they can give you work restrictions like being able to sit frequently.
  • Yeah, I have a doctor appointment tues, for the strep test... yay! .. lol so I'll ask then.
  • Hey hun .....u need another drs. Opinion did they check u for pre eclampsia....how's ur blood pressure....I heard walking in a pool helps a lot ....n yes drinking water helps a lot ....drink drink up all day....how early did ur swelling start
  • im with lorinrene id be hittin up the hospital n gettin checked for pre-eclampsia my frienf had it / thats exactly what happened to her, better to be safe than sorry right, goodluck
  • I guess my blood pressure is good, they always say its okay. My swelling started around 27 weeks. And that was the same week I got the rhogam shot, and I thought it was a side effect, cuz I never had any swelling before. But my doctor said it wasn't.

I'm not exactly a fan of my doctor anyways. I plan on switching after the babys born, I think its too late now.
  • Thank God then its probly not preeclampsia...I'm 27 weeks and haven't had n e swelling which I find strange cuz with my 2 boys I was swollen bad by this time ....I'm now pregnant with a girl don't no if that's the diference..cuz wut I am doing diferent ...is I'm drinking constant water maybe my whole pregnancy had no more then 4 cups of juice...I'm always carrying a water bottle and peeing like a fountain...but wut it is its helping trying drinking not stop for ah few days and c if it helps...I wish u well momma..God Bless
  • Thank you(: I'm having a boy.. so maybe there is a difference. My weakness is my morning ice coffee(: lol, but today I got a small. And I'm gunna drink water for the rest of the day. I need to get the swelling down for tomorrow, its my babyshower && I'm getting a mani & pedi in the morning. And I need to wear flip flops - that me feet don't fit in!! Hahaha, so I'm praying my swelling will go down atleast for a few hours tomorrow(:

At the end of my first pregnancy (with a girl) I was swollen pretty bad, n my bp started to go up, I gained 7lbs in 5days my doc thought I might have had preeclampsia (I didn't)... so she sent me to the er which they notice my platets were dropping so I ended up having to b induced (she was due in 3 days) bcuz if they got too low I wouldn't b able to receive pain meds they said... idk if the platet count had anything to do with the swellen thou
