SYMPTOMS OF PREECLAMPSIA?

I've read up on the condition, but on one website I'll have multiple symptoms, and on a different website I'll have none. So, it looks like the only way I'll get an honest answer is to ask someone who's dealt with it before. Since the beginning of my pregnancy (around 8 weeks) my vision started messing up. I figured it was dehydration, and started drinking more water. But, it never got better. Now, I'll have a complete loss of vision when I stand up, or turn my head too fast, then it'll slowly fade back in. Sometimes I feel like I have no control of my body. It's like I can walk, or move around, but I'm in a daze, kinda. I've tried to bring it up to my doctor, but apparently he doesn't think anything's wrong because he has yet to do any tests. Can anyone offer any advice?

  • ..I don't know about preclampsia. But I think its common for pregnant ladies to feel light headed at the beginning of pregnancy. To lose vision and sort of black out and dizzy that you have to stop til you regain full vision. I was like that in the beginning but it fades away with the morning sickness. How far along are you now?
  • I'm 21 weeks as of today, and nothing as changed with morning sickness or the vision problem. I'm not so worried about the morning sickness not going away, because I know it's common for some women to have problems with it their whole pregnancy, but the vision thing worries me. @jcmommy
  • Have your doctor check on ur next.visit they will notice high blood pressure and protien in urin, it usually would set in later in pregnancy but if your worried call your doctors office!
  • Yeah your vision messing up is normal mine did and i wear glasses that's how i knew i was lol bc i was squinting with my glasses on.
  • I have preclampsia I have no vision problem but I wear contacts I do feel like im running a fever almost daily I get bad headaches have middle back pains and pain under my right boob and swollen hands
  • @maymommy2011 I'm definatly gonna bring it up at my next visit, but as far as calling, I can forget about that. The only time my doctor gets called is when I go into labor and the hospital calls him.

@1_bubbly_mommy I also wear glasses, and my vision has changed, cause I squint too, but have you had a temporary loss a vision?
  • @kindell I get the fever feeling often, but I wouldn't say everyday, the same thing with headaches. My hands are swollen now, but I figured it was a normal pregnancy thing. I'm definatly talking to my doctor about this.
  • Well yeah occasionally when i get up to fast or something like that but i don't think anything of it.
  • Try and cut salt out of your diet , I know its hard, but it will help a little bit with the headaches n fever :)
  • hi @newmommy! I had preaclampsia with my first pregnancy...i didnt really show signs until the last month...i ignored some of the warning signs bc it was my first pregnancy and thought it was normal in preg...i had the following:

When i laid down at nighti had this intense pressure in the back of my head....or really bad headaches.

I had extreme swelli g....some is normal in pregnancy....make sure you co tinuously check out your feet and ankles.
I was severely tired...agai some tired ess is expected with pregnancy but alot too quickly isnt.

    Protein in ur urine.

I would suggest going to walgreens or cvs and buying a wrist blood pressure machine i paid 40$ for mine and co tinuously check it during this pregnancy.

I cannot stresshow important it is for you to take care of yourself. call ur dr with any preaclampsia questions you may have. After i delivered @37 wks my blood pressure did not return to normal and i ended up being rushed to the hospital with congestive heart failure...get plenty of rest elevate ur feet as much as you can and dont eat anything salty. Good luck girlie!
  • I had preeclampsia aka toxemia with my son he's 1month now I had to b induced because of it. Apparently since I was about 6 wks I started getting major headaches! And blurred vision I didn't think much of it bc my mom told me getting headaches is normal while pregnant. Anyway at 4months I got diagnosed with it. I started to faint and blackout. I went to my check up and my bp was 178over101 very high normal is 140 over 90 so I was admitte2d to the hospital and put on magnesium sulfate a medicine to g2te my bp down after 2 wks in the hospital and being put on a low salt diet I was feeling better I still had protein in my urinne (which meant my kidneys were failing) but I was on a diet all through my pregnancy my symptoms stared to come back the blurred vision headaches and qt 28 weeks I was going to be induced. Luckily they just left me at the hospital and watched my bp I was induced shortly after my 35 wk check up my babywas small but he's doing great born on st pats & one month soon
