breastfeeding

edited February 2011 in Pregnant
So I'm 25 and I noticed a lot of women not breastfeeding these days (my age anyways)...they either "can't " or give up..and I feel its very important. Anyone else my age plan on breastfeeding and feel its extremely important? I'm about 6 months along and I'm already getting my colostrum...is this normal to get it so early?

  • I'm 24 next month pregnant with my third baby. With my first two the thought freaked me out but since this is my last I'm set on doing it!! I think if I would of with my first she probably wouldn't of had double ear infections! Glad to know I'm not the only one who is going to try it!! :)) How far along are you???
  • I'm 22, and I'm planning on nursing. I did with my 1st two babies! I had wonderful experiences, and didn't hurt at all!
  • Im 28 ..will be 29 on valentines day...I am planning on nursing. I am really nervous about it,...about the baby latching on and about it hurting!!
  • I am 26 and have #3 on the way and I breastfeed both of mine! Loved it. (*)
  • I'm 26 and expecting #2. I breast fed my first for about a week. I was having major issues so I gave up. I am going to try again this time. Wish me luck! I believe that is why my kiddo has barely ever been sick.
  • Jess: I'm just entering my 6th month (23wks) is it normal to have colostrum this early?
  • I think its normal I'm 32 weeks and I only noticed it now but I doubt it's something to worry about. I would just let your obgyn know about it heather just so you can be reassured everything is fine
  • Its normal to have some leakage. I did. I had to start wearing nursing pads in my bra because it would come out. Right around that time I noticed it, mostly during a hot bath or after playing around with hubby lol when my body was most relaxed.
  • I'm 22 pregnant with my first by the way and I plan on breastfeeding its very important for the health of the baby
  • Im 22 & preg with my first. I plan on breast feeding but I've heard some women can't.
  • That's true jojom
  • I definitely plan on it. I have extremely sensitive nipples so I'm scared I might not be able to do it for long though. I heard pumping is easier
  • I'm 22 everyone keeps telling me to not bother but I feel if its what's best for baby then I'm doing it!
  • I'm 27 expecting #2 I breastfed my first fir 13 months. It was a great experience a lot less hassle than formula and healthier for baby my little one didn't get sick till recently for first time at age 3. Great bonding time for mom and baby!! And it doesn't hurt unless they aren't latching correctly. Don't be afraid to ask the Lactation consultant at the hospital to show u before you go home if you think baby's not latching properly. So many give up because they are afraid to ask for help. Good luck!!
