medicaid question?

edited April 2011 in Pregnant
i'm applying for medicaid, and on the application it asks for my health insurance coverage. i'm currently under my parent's insurance, but i want to get medicaid.. so would i still put that insurance information on there?

  • Yes. Because if you are covered by other insurance they need to know, but u may be denied because of it. Depends on ur state
  • ugh, i was afraid of that. my parents don't pay any of the doctor's bills, i pay all of the co-pays and everything! i live in ohio. i wish they had room to write explanations on these applications!
  • also, do i have to write down my dental and vision insurance? those are two different companies, separate from my regular health insurance.

  • They probably won't deny you, what Trey did for me was just made the Medicaid my secondary insurance so it covered everything that the other insurance didn't, like the copays, so they didnt have to pay as much and i still didnt have to pay anything. Yeah include your dental and vision too.
  • They, not Trey. Lol
  • I was on my moms insurance when I got pregnant with my first I didn't put it on the application
  • Im going to be the bad guy and say dont put it on the app. Then once you get it get off your parents.
  • @paytonnoelle I did my Medicaid stuff without putting my parents insurance because I know in FL you can't have two. But I'm still on my moms without using her card or anything. B wise I have to pay the copay to. And I put no insurance coverages . And it worked I got insurance through the. Now.
  • yeah don't tell them because your not the primary on that insurance

  • I put it on mine and they approved me... Medicaid pays everything my primary insurance doesn't like Co pays for doctor visits and hospital visits and most prescription medicine so I don't end up paying a dime for anything pregnancy related!!! :)
  • But definitely be honest so it doesn't bite you later!
  • I would tell them. Here in Michigan thet give it to you no matter what when your prego. They will just put it as your secondary.
  • I was on my dads insurance the first time I got pregnant and still got medicaid. I also was expected to pay my copays he didn't. I reported it to medicaid and I really think you should to.bas far as I know as long as you are pregnant and under the incomerequirments you qualify reguardless of other insurance.
  • @vlynn that's how it is here in NC! Medicaid just takes care of everything after my primary insurance covers what they'll cover.
