Husband's Confession
My husband has a daughter that he hasn't seen or spoken to in years. He had her when he was young and the mother cheated on him and ran off without notice, taking the child with her. I am almost 12 weeks pregnant with our first child and am due on his birthday. Ever since we found out that we were expecting, my husband was ecstatic, or so it seemed. Tonight, we were laying in bed and something didn't seem right. I asked him what was wrong and he said that he is frustrated. Apparently every night after I fall asleep, he falls to pieces. He told me that every time I talk about this child he gets upset because he thinks about his daughter. It's so strange to me because for over a month now our friends and family always point out that he seems happier than me about this pregnancy. I am hurt and I don't even know if I should be. I guess I just didn't expect to hear any of this from him. I know that his daughter's absence is hard on him, but I feel like I'm torturing him by being happy about our own baby. I don't know how to feel and what to attribute to the hormones.
