can you get induce at 38 weeks?

AHH..i have finals during the time i have my baby..and i was wondering what you ladies thought about being induce at 38 weeks...i am currently 37...but i really wanna make it to finals at college...i know theres a high risk i can get a c-section and i dont want that just want to have a vaginal delivery...what do you ladies think? should i? well if doc approves!

    GIt doesn't hurt to ask your md if that is what you want. They will tell you if they are willing to do that.

    Unless it's medically necessary your doctor can't induce you at will.

    *most* doctors will not and can not induce before 39 weeks unless medically necessary hun, it wont hurt to ask, worst thing you hear will be No. :)

    Based just upon,my first delivery I woulnt suggest it. Some women have great experiences. Mine wasnt. I was induced at 38 weeks on a monday. With poticn. My body never took to it. I never dialted. two days later doc broke my water on wed. And still never went into labor. Made it to two cm. close to the 24 hr mark doc did an emergency c section to prevent dry birth. I had already gotten a epidural so they just increased meds thru that. They started cutting and the third layer the paranieum (sp) I felt it al started screaming. I was knocked out (put under) & never got to c my baby delivered till four hrs after :( baby just wasnt ready and we pushed hin due to our convience. I know I had a bad experience and many have had better but I personally would let baby come when he/she is ready...

    I was induced at 37 weeks. Went in for a stress test on a Monday. My fluid levels were low so they started pitocin. and i ended up delivering on Friday.

    What is ur policies on incompletes? I went that route when I had my first daughter. This one is due a wk before finals. I am hoping she will be like her big sister and be 2 wks early bc this is my last quarter before grad school

    Im in the same boat but my baby is due the first week of college..im lucky if its a healthy girl ill miss one day of school cuz with my son n the circumcision I was required to stay two days n I went to my hs graduation the nxt morn after delivering him..goodluck I know its stress ful but look on the brightside baby could still come before ur finals

    @lilliebug i must take the finals its the second time i take the class and if i dont i cant no longer receive my advance certificate, had to drop that class my first trimester due to bed rest...but what if he comes after finals...its a 50/50 chance...@mandielynne when r u do? @galdiator007 its a team powerpoint presentation...i need to be present to get the points...

    I would ask your doctor. My old doctor was willing to induce me so my hubby could have more time with her(he deploys soon) but said she'd only do it if I was already dilating but we decided not to. It doesn't hurt to ask all doctors are different.

    I have a friend that was induced at 37 weeks and not only did she have to have a c-section but it also caused a lot of health problems for her son. He was in the hospital for weeks because he wasn't ready to come out. The closer to your due date you can keep your baby in your belly the better for him. He'll let you know when he's ready to be out in the world.

    My sister was induced with both her girks at 37 weeks it went fine and my neices are perfectly healthy!
