Hi I had a horrible experience yesterday when trying to get my hair highlighted. Basically had a chemical reaction with the bleach and foils found out well water has to much iron in water please someone tell me what to do. Oh and my scalp has blisters from the heat

    Honestly it sounds more like someone didnt know what they were doing or (I'm assuming you are preg? =]) it was because your body is changing and more sensitive, therefore making your hair more unpredictable. Just be easy on your scalp, don't blast it with a hot shower and it will heal. As for your hair can you describe what the results were? Damaged, discolored, both? What do you need fixed?

    They know I'm pregnant lady never seen this before we had to call the salon I went to before and spoke to the owner she said she only seen it happen once in 20 years. I was getting peek a boo highlights I have dark brown hair and they always have to bleach my hair to lift it and when the lady applied it and put foils only 5 foils it burned horribly she got them off with only being on my hair 5 mins stem smoke came out it got so hot it burned my scalp she though it was a metal from the previous salon uses in their toner nuts not and that's when the lady told us about the iron building up in my hair my hair fell out a lil and broken apart. The lady who did my hair asked about the toner she thought my hair had a weird tint but just thought color of toner. It was blonde highlights and I read to much iron in water can turn blonde hair to a Orange tint

    It sounds like you had metallic dye on your hair, more than just a reaction to the iron. It will do that exact thing. What kind of dyes have you used on your hair before this? Anything like 10 minute at home color?

    Before the salon I used in October they used redken before that I didn't get my hair colored in 3 years. The stylist from yesterday thought the same thing you did till she found out what type if product the previous salon used

    Well I would suggest laying off the highlights for a while, focus on deep conditioning treatments and don't overdo the hot styling tools..when your hair feels good enough to try again, have them thoroughly clarify your hair beforehand.

    I'm sorry I missed the toner part. I'm still not sure I understand what happened (who did the toner and who thought it was a strange tint), but it does sound like maybe your previous toner had a metallic dye in it. If so you cannot dye over it. The same thing will happen again. As for the damage try a good protein-based treatment (NOT for moisture). It will say reconstruct or keratin. dont get a moisture repair because it will make your hair gummy feeling. a great one is by Chi. its leave in, so you don't have to worry about directions and leaving it in too long.

    hhmm that's just strange. the only thing I can say is maybe the toner wasn't weaken but that's what they primarily use? Sorry I haven't been much help. I wish I couldn't see it first hand and give you some products personally

    The toner was done by the salon I went to in October they said no metallic dye was in it they use redken for all hair products. Yesterday the stylist thought my hair had a strange tint but just thought it was the color toner the previous person put. Im afraid for my hair especially if it is the iron I'm more scared what effects to much iron can be on my baby.

    Okay I see. Well what you don't have to worry about is the iron! A good clarify shampoo will take care of it. And it won't harm your baby at all. I would just advise not drinking a lot straight from the tap.

    Sounds like henna or metallic dye to me..a lot of box color and do it at home kits contain that. I'm a certified colorist for redken, and their products don't contain that. And for the burning, nothing in a foil touches your scalp...my advice is find a new stylist..sounds to me like she used a strong developer and touched ur scalp with it ...

    @kenie0713 it just got so hot it burned me. The who did my hair said she heard of some colors with henna doing that and she doesn't mess with it my friend had the same stuff put on her hair and didn't happen to her. When the stylist found out that the previous salon used redken she knew it wasn't that either. The previous salon said it would have happened last time but not enough iron was build up in my hair. I was only living in my house for 4 months. Now its been almost 8 months

    I have only seen this once before! The client neglected to tell my co-worker she had used the Sun- In stuff from wamart a few days before and it had a bad reaction with our bleach!!! The foils were super hot and were smoking within like 2 min! It was crazy!!! Like was said before use a clarifying shampoo! And do some deep conditioner treatments! The one I LOVE is K-Pak reconstructor by Joico!! Hope it heals fast for you!!

    I saw that happen when i was in school def metallic dye u cant really do anything it has to grow out and kpac reconstructor rocks so other then that dont color anymore
