  • One cup of coffee shouls b ok. I think they say up to 2 cups r safe.
  • In What To Expect When Expecting, there is a break down of approximately how many mgs are in various things containing caffeine. It says in a normal pregnancy up to 200mg is okay. Here's a list of the basics:

    1 cup brewed coffee (8oz) - 135mg
    1 cup instant coffee - 95mg
    1 cup decaf - 5mg
    6oz caffe latte or cappuccino - 90mg
    1oz espresso - 90mg
1 cup of tea - 40-60mg green tea has less
    1 can of cola - 35mg
    1 can of diet - 45mg
    1oz milk chocolate - 6mg
    1oz dark - 20mg
    1 cup chocolate milk - 5mg
    8oz coffee ice cream - 40-80mg
  • Thanks for the helpful information!
  • I have a half cup coffee in the am when I'm lucky enough to not be nauseous & one soda. But I had ADD & quit my medication. Last pregnancy I quit completely
  • The only caffeine I've had is sweet tea. Other than that just water for me! I've never been a big soda drinker anyways.
  • You're welcome. I was so excited to find it, its been very helpful to me. Also, I think most cans of pop sat how much caffeine is in them. I know for sure Mt. Dew is 54mg per 12oz (or one can)
  • @upnorthmom6 how are you doing. I have add as well and I feel like I get nothing done because I can't focus
  • My ob said I could have no more than 6 (yes 6) cans of Coke a day. We all know Coke is the most cafinated soda out there. My baby turned out just fine
  • @upnorthmom6 I have ADD and stopped my adderall the day after I found out I was pregnant.. its been a struggle at work and I just think that with 7 months left and then breastfeeding, I will never be focused again!! Its hard enough to get anything done because I'm so tired but without my meds and my caffeine, I'm a lazy fool! Im trying to beat the fatigue today and starting a new workout routine, hoping that helps!
  • The doctor said about 200 mg of caffein a day is ok. Homebrewed coffee usually has less than the store bought like dunkin donuts. I usuallt have one small cup of coffee in the morning and if feeling really exausted at work I might have a small fountain soda.
  • I was surprised at my first appt Tues. My ob/gyn's nurse told me only 1 soda or 1 tea per day. That's much more strict than the general guidelines I've read in baby books.
  • A friend of mine told me that you can get half caff coffee! I haven't bought any yet.. But sure sounds good!
  • Yes. Thank u for the list, me n my boyfriend never really argue this is thw only dispute we have about me drinking pepsi. I stopped smokin cigs, drinkin alch. The day I found out. All I want is my damn pop, n I have to get lectured or looked at like I'm doing the worse thing in the world. Hell yes in his face. Lmao
  • My midwife said caffeine won't hurt ur baby, it just reduces your hydration. So drink extra water if you want your coffee :)
  • I drank coffee and wine (once in a while) with my first and ate whatever I wanted and hes a perfect baby!! I think it really depends on each person and what thier body takes.
  • I was told two cups unless it's something like starbucks because their coffee has SO MUCH caffeine in it:)

  • I'm a green tea person, personally. Someone said it was a no-go bit my midwife said 1 or 2 cups a day would be ok. It has 1/3 the caffeine of coffee. You could give it a try, too.
  • I have a coke or 2 a day through all 3 pregnancies all good here
