So I got fired yesterday & this unemployment is nerve wracking I was supposed to move in June. Has anyone ever gotten hired at 31 weeks? I want another job as crazy as it sounds.

  • @angieahrens i kno...but the only problem is, is that ive only been there going on 3wks! so my position isnt secure or safe...they can fire me whenever they want...where im from, (Fl), they can fire you for any reason or no reason at all...whenever they want...its a 'at will' state...so, they can just say they cant use me anymore being that ill be leaving in a few months...although itll be 'wrongful termination', they can still do what they want cause i havent been there for at least 12months...so even a 3mth maternity leave is outta the question!

  • Yeah florida is a crappy place to work and raise family. I know I have been here for too damn long. They can't actually fire you because you told them you were pregnant. They actually have to wait for a certain ammount of time to pass or you can say it was because you told them you were pregnant and can sue. Granted I think the time period is only like a month or something. Ypu might be able to talk to your employers and they may be able to work something out with you as for keeping the job, kinda depends on how muich they like you of course. @librababii
  • Thanks ladies, yeah some people have no heart
  • Sorry to hear that hun
  • For FMLA there are several criteria that's has to be met. Work 1250 hours AND employed 1 year. Having only been there 3 weeks she did not meet the criteria. Also your employer has to have 50 people within 75 miles.
  • I was employed for 1 year, 10 months & worked damn near every day.
