water births

I want to have a water birth, I have herd of some advantages, I'm only 16 so I'm not sure how well it would work, any suggestions ? Thanks

  • I also want to do a water birth for baby #5 but not sure if I should or can since I always have problems with heavy bleeding after delivering all my other babies.
  • Waterbirths are amazing! I think it is great that you want to look into it as an option. You can talk to some midwives in your area and see if they offer it as an option. I don't see why being 16 would have any negative effect on your birthing options and it is great that you are informed!

    Also, remember you have the option of laboring in the tub and birthing out of it, @4woodbabies. I birth at home as well and I just have a personal preference to get out of the water right before I start pushing usually. I'm totally open to staying in if the mood strikes me at the moment, though... it just hasn't yet with my previous births.

  • Um, does it take away some pain? I herd that the baby won't swallow water because they don't cry until the air hits their cheeks is that true? Is there a chance it can harm my baby?
